Asus RT-AC66U randomly switches to 100Mbps on LAN

I'd guess bad cable too, possibly been crushed under a door or something?

    Better Wifi Dongle?

You're not going to see much improvement on wifi unless you invest in a 802.11ac setup imo. Both AP and client device.

    Better Wifi Dongle?

Depends on the access point it's going to connect to.

    Powerline Networking Recomandations

Victorian property often has thicker copper cabling as they were "doing it properly" back then, least in my experience trying to strip the wiring. *mumbles about it's not made like it used to be*

Well, I just factory reset the switch, USG, both APs, and as if by magic... it's working now. Guess simplest solution is the way to go.

Don't have a controller on the network at the moment, trying to download a new copy of the controller software to do so. And yes I can't get any internet access on the LAN side of the USG, but I know it's working on the USG as I can firstly SSH into it and then secondly confirm WAN connectivity...

Got a problem here I'm hoping is an easy fix... https://imgur.com/a/b5QGCP1 Got a HG612 with a BT broadband connection, using the modem in pppoe mode with an Asus router works fine, homehub6 works fine. Throw it in pppoe mode with a usg and it seems to get a WAN connection... I've tried the...

    Gaming Wi-Fi adapter for desktop

You could use the dedicated media bridge, ASUS EA-AC87, instead of a secondary router, though I went router as I upgraded my existing one and reused the old one as the media bridge. It works better than any usb clients I've tried in the past. Bonus points for having multiple ethernet points...

    Gaming Wi-Fi adapter for desktop

I had fairly inconsistent latency spikes when using Intel WiFi adapters in the desktop kit, only reasonably non terrible solution I found was bridging a pair of ASUS AC68U routers, one in router mode as usual and the other in media bridge mode, then connecting the second to my Ethernet port...

    Recommendations for a new ISP

As a side note, throwing the VM box into modem mode and using your own wifi router might help if it's not all down to the WAN link being crap.

Will ISP's ever let you use 3rd party routers for fibre

If you're up for paying for the extra and the cosy knowledge the ISP won't shout at you for using your own kit, give Zen or AAISP a go.

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Mhmmm I've moved into a flat where there's 3 Telephone points, 2 in bedrooms and one in a living room - all look like extension points - none labelled master/have tester points. Plug into any of them and hope for the best?

    Openreach - messed up records?

You're super brave for being open about that ;) I'll be stoic until I can actually get an order placed, knowing my luck once the infinity 1 line is active and synced it'll all go away again. Do wonder why it was listed wrong, maybe the previous tenant only used ADSL2+ instead of VDSL? Maybe...

    Openreach - messed up records?

Good news! The BT order for infinity 1 must have triggered a line test and update of the records! I don't know how to contain myself.
