Octopus Go - stick or twist at current rates??

My 7.5p rate finished at the end of June and I switched to the 9.5p rate. Interestingly despite it being a 'fixed price' contact agreed in June, Octopus have actually lowered the day rate since. Seems they are doing the right thing as normal

Mortgage Protection +- Critical Illness Cover

It's difficult for people to advise as it'll vary depending on your exact level and value of mortgage cover, plus your personal circumstances - job, age, lifestyle, health risks, family history etc. Then a bit like car insurance, it all goes into the magic insurance black box to come up with a...

    Carpet cleaner

The other thing to consider is how you'll get it dry. Particularly as we get into colder/wetter weather. Shouldn't be too hard with the short pile on that rug, but it needs to get completely dry relatively quickly or it'll start to smell worse than before!

    Fence painting

In my experience yes, but to get the best results you end up doing both to some extent. Use the spray to get the paint on the panels in volume and over large areas, then use a large 'masonry' brush to work it into the wood. Its a lot less effort than brush alone anyway!

Central heating loud noise/rattling after "stopping" when heating? Any fixes

Firstly bleed and top up the system. Any air in there isn't doing anyone any good, but it's unlikely to cause the noise When you do get the plumber out, see if he can fit any shock arrestors / water hammers. These are small, cheap, and do wonders wherever you have a valve closing quickly that...

    Advice selling old Citadel miniatures

It all depends if you want to get rid of in a big lot or have the time to sell and package each item. Least effort, but likely least return, would-be to contact troll trader. If you fill out their sell-to-us description form and add some photos, they'll give you a quote. If you want to put in...

    Electric (battery) lawn mower spec

The worx mower + strimmer and two batteries pack is in stock at Argos for £200 as far as I can see. It's not quite the same product as the example you gave, but it is the one I have. Main difference is the smaller battery capacity (2Ahr each rather than 4) but works fine for my lawn.

    Electric (battery) lawn mower spec

I've got that Worx mower, had it for 2years. Hasn't put a foot wrong. It's quiet and light. My lawn is about 50m², which is easily does on a single charge. I got mine in a bundle with the strimmer which was oddly cheaper than buying either individually, worth looking to see if that is still a...

Buying small plot from a neighour

My parents are currently trying to do something very similar. The theory of what you have said is correct, however the reality may be a long and frustrating process. Be prepared to sit it out if you get agreement from the lady to buy the little area. My parents started the process nine months...

    Custom stickers for plastic boxes

I've used stickers international numerous times. Their gloss vinyl stickers have stuck to everything, including use being knocked about, outdoors and underwater. They'll probably last indefinitely on the side of a box!

Sticky rubbers, how do you solve this problem?

What you are referring to is known as soft touch paint. It's used to coat hard plastics to give that rubber coated effect, enhanced grip and better tactile feel in the hand to give the perception of a more 'premium' product. Over time the wear from use, the oils in your skin, and in some...

Alexa routine & long song titles

Not sure this will work, but worth a shot as it's helped me get around odd pronunciation or long names before: Play the track on the device by using the app on your phone. Ask the device what is playing. Note the reply. This should be the wording required to access the track directly by...

    New turf first cut

If it is that long you should be fine. Ideally you would not take more than third off, but not really possible with a mower at that length. Wack mower on its highest setting and go for it. If you leave it to get longer, your mower might struggle!

Please recommend a UK car hire company

Hertz have a premises at Stratford upon Avon train station. Have used several times before. It is however a small operation, so choice / availability may be limited. Worth a look as a first pass if that's where you're arriving. The only other option I am aware of in Stratford is enterprise, but...
