I'm in the same camp as you. I've booted Ubuntu and Xubuntu 14.04 off a USB stick, and will go with Xubuntu as it feels a little snappier (not a huge amount in it, and Ubuntu was perfectly usable).

Hmm, that's disappointing. Best I've found is a Sapphire HD 6670, which is around £75 and overkill for what I'm after. Might have to settle for running one of them with a separate audio cable (cards with a single HDMI are cheap).
