You're right it was a faulty hub port ... I tested connecting directly from laptop to ONT and then hub ports and ONT was gigabit but hub one was only 100Mbps so I've now got BT sending us a new hub tomorrow ... Hopefully that solves it!

My 750w Corsair 80+ Gold seems to be managing just fine and that's with one direct connection and one split cable for the other two so not three dedicated PSU cables! Had no issues whatsoever with it - so I'd hope that anything higher spec would be absolutely fine.
