    The nervous wait to exchange....

Thank you. I spotted the post about council tax and checked this evening. It’s the same band as the other houses on the road and has 1 kitchen. I hope it’s just a rubber stamp exercise - that’s how the council made it sound (just on the phone not in writing). Bit nervous about what I might not...

    The nervous wait to exchange....

We’re pretty close to agreeing exchange/complete dates which means we’d be in the new place within 3 weeks… the house we’re buying is classified as ‘6 bedsits in a dwelling house’ - planning was submitted to turn it into that in the 80s but the entry said ‘not development’ so I don’t know if at...

Thoughts on Lego Land vs Alton Towers short break

Not sure how old/adventurous your littles are but I was a fiend for theme parks growing up and always thought Lego Land was pitched to younger kids and a bit dull in terms of the rides they had. Alton Towers has much better rides! The hotel is fine, we stayed in one of the rooms (not a fancy...

Do you take your laptop on holiday

Always! I love taking photos so I need to empty my memory card a fair bit and sometimes do more fiddly edits that I can't do on my phone. Plus we use it to plan what we're going to do as we always discover new things when we arrive at a place and want to check them out properly. I'd never take...

Good stag locations for brits in USA

Have you been to Vegas Haz? You can do it in a non-tacky way but because all the fun is concentrated in one area, it's easy. There are shows, great restaurants, bars and clubs, shooting ranges with hundreds of choices of guns etc. Otherwise, what about LA, or maybe Chicago?

Would you call your new baby boy 'Louis'?

Agreed! Still bottom of the heap for me though...

Would you call your new baby boy 'Louis'?

Is it pronounced Lewis or Lewee though? Because that totally doesn't change the fact that I'd never call my child Louis.

    Kitchen Trends

I don't really think handles vs. no handles is a massive trend issue. Just like people choose different styles of handles, handleless is really just another one of these styles. In terms of buying a kitchen that won't date quickly, I would avoid brightly coloured high gloss units as they're a...

    GDPR and stuff

I'm using this as one big email unsubscribe exercise. If you don't respond, you don't receive any more  Might help with the 65,000 unread emails in my inbox

    Expiry dates on food

We always use things after the expiry date - they're usually pretty conservative and if stuff hasn't grown legs or started to smell it's usually fine. For things that we've opened (like tubs of greek yogurt), if I'm not sure I use stilltasty.com which gives you an idea of how long stuff lasts...

Website features that appeal to female visitors?

What specifically is the ecom site selling? I don't think the customer experience is particularly gender specific - everyone wants to quickly find what they're looking for, be inspired and have it made as easy as possible for them to transact. So things like persistent basket, really good...

Tech Support - Converting video for Grandad

Hi guys, So it's that time of year again when we go home for the holidays and get asked to fix anything technology related.... My dad was on Homes under the Hammer this year and Grandad recorded it onto a DVD in .VRO format. They want to share it with the rest of the family so I uploaded it...

Anyone been to New York recently

As with any city, you can live on not very much spending money if that's the way you want to play it. You don't have to "eat out" for every meal - places like Whole Foods at Columbus Circle have an amazing deli with loads of hot and cold food you can take away. I like to picnic in central park...

    **** Yodel you useless ******* *****

OMG YES. I'm actually sitting in my front room by the front door and have been waiting ALL DAY for ****** Yodel. They left a card yesterday saying they'd missed me - not possible, I waited in the front room yesterday too. Spent hours on live chat and the phone to them today for them to tell me...

    Garden Makeover

Depending on how much work there is to do and whether you want landscaping, paving, decking etc. it will hugely vary the price. What are you looking to do?

Looking for a warm mid-layer that's MUCH warmer than Fleece, recommendations?

This. Some great suggestions in here. As a perennially frozen person, I'm taking notes. Shi have you tried wearing a hat? Always keeps me so much toastier On a side note, you mention your metabolism is quite fast and you don't gain wait. Probs nothing but have you had your thyroid checked?
