    GPU dead or...?

:) sound. At some point I realised I didn't need to upgrade every two years ... hence the 3570k still doing its great service after 12 years or so :D

    GPU dead or...?

Thank you, kind sirs! Both of you spot on! The new (used) card works perfectly well in the second PCI-E (x8) slot. The old card is confirmed dead in that slot too, so I guess it took out the primary slot with it when it went... Glad to see my diagnostic instinct wasn't off either! But I...

    GPU dead or...?

Ok, this might sound a bit dumb... but I've not tinkered with things for quite a while, so grateful for some diagnostic help! My graphics card (a venerable AMD R9 Fury) seems to have died a death. Not entirely sure why, but screen went all black whilst playing and card has since been completely...

Focus G mini additional hdd mod?

My Fractal Design Focus Mini G has evolved into a home server. The problem I've discovered, as progressed with setting it up slowly, is that there are very few HDD slots. The installed cage only supports two, with another two potentially in the 5.25" slots (assuming I can stick a fan in to keep...

    Music server noob question

Thanks. Not sure I have the technical ability to get it up and running on FreeNAS though :( This is what I feared... I may just try to find a decent budget network audio streamer... Thanks anyway!:)

    Music server noob question

So, I already have a home server running FreeNAS for filesharing, syncing, backup, etc. What I was hoping to do was have my music stored on it too, and be able to play music direct from the server to my hifi. It seems clear to me that one option is to get a network audio streaming hifi...

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

I'm running an FTP server on FreeNAS. My knowledge of FreeNas is limited... :D I'll have a look and see if it can.. I specified exactly this further up, as below: Ok, I'll see if I can get it to work with this or on the FreeNAS server. Thanks!

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

I did give you the model in my reply above... Yes, I believe this router does support bridge/modem-only mode. The ISP is SSE, and the connection is a fibre connection of some sort (does 38Mbps). Ok, so you think the TP-Link should work without problems with my freedns account? Thanks very...

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

I've also got a TP-Link Archer D2 / AC750 which is currently just serving as a wireless AP. Shall I switch the Technicolor to just serve as a modem and instead do the routing, etc with the TP-Link, if that will support the freedns service?

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

Sorry, it's Technicolor TG589vac V2. This is where I'm lost and ignorant  No, I don't have an account on dyn.com... I have an account on https://freedns.afraid.org/ I didn't know DynDNS was a particular service or that I needed an account with them for this router (if I've...

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

Ah, hadn't appreciated that. That's the only information the website shows under "Router Setup Guide". My router's completely stock. That's not the right model, but I've been through manuals etc, and I've done this successfully at some point in the past. I'm sure I've configured the DynDNS...

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

No, I'm not that daft  I'm presuming the router doesn't like the comma in there, hence the invalid syntax. But if that's the case, not sure how it can update freedns?

Dyndns on Technicolor TG589 v2 question

I'm probably missing something obvious here, but grateful if someone could point it out! I cannot get my Technicolor TG589 v2 to update my freedns.afraid.org account with refreshed IP addresses. Freedns has instructions here - https://freedns.afraid.org/guide/dd-wrt/ - which suggest using...

    Which router to route with

use 192.168.1.1 to get to the login page. The user and p/w to log in to the router should be on a sticker on the back of the router. Once you're logged in, just click the settings button (little cogwheels) on the top right of the Wireless box, and from there you can change the wifi p/w.

    Which router to route with

Ok thanks. The DHCP server on the TPLINK is turned off though, so I thought this passed the traffic through to the Technicolour?

    Which router to route with

Currently I have a Technicolour modem-router, supplied by my ISP, which acts as the modem/primary router. However, I prefer to use my older TP-Link Archer for wifi, so this is plugged into the Technicolour and serves as an access point. My PC and home server are plugged in via lan to the...

You'll still get there before me... Considered proportionally, I think I'm even slower than you :D Apologies to anyone coming here for the motherboard in the title... Couldn't help adding another post to my count ;)
