Hi guys,
I've been out of the loop for a while and feel like I need a CPU, Motherboard, RAM, upgrade. I'm still on an i7800k presently which has been awesome @ 4.8ghz but the time to upgrade is here I think.
I've just picked up an Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX...
Beware! My experience today trying to pre-order online in the UK today.
First order with credit card. Receive email to say order is complete and delivery will be On August 9th. 10 minutes later I receive an email saying my order has been cancelled with no reason given. Try for a second...

Thanks Ronski :). Just watched a setup video and it looks pretty straightforward.
Sorry to hear that Boycey...doesn't bode well :(.
Will I get by with a GTX 970? If not what would be the best choice of GPU for the rift?
Just ordered mine!
Shipping date is 'TBD' :(
Never mind, just have to hang on and look forward to it.
How is the set up for the Rift? Easy or a fiddle?
Another thumbs up for this lovely monitor :).
Profile applied and it seems so much easier on my eyes than my previous 60hz offering. Colours look uniform and very good blacks for a TN panel.
Only slight downer was the £20 price reduction the day after I ordered ;)
Very happy with...
I've been an OCUK customer for years just not a prolific poster on the forums.
In general they've been pretty good, no complaints really. Other places can be a bit cheaper but I've remained loyal.
The new graphics card will be my first purchase for some time though. Still can't decide...
Lol! Don't let the squeaker near the Haribo!!!! :D
I've been searching the forum for info on whether you have to do anything to qualify for the free postage once you hit the criteria or is it done automatically? (doubt it!)
Thanks again ED. I like the EVGA stuff so there's another option for me. I think I will pick up another SSD at the same time.
Only another couple of posts for free postage!!! :)
Many thanks, :)
think I'll go for the GTX 970 then. I like the look of the Gigabyte G1 but am hearing rumours of coil whine with these. Also the Galax modded by Overclockers looks good. Any other good alternative?
Hi Ladies and Gents,
I've been out of the upgrade loop for a while so your advice would be appreciated.
I'm looking for an interim upgrade before the appearance of the Oculus Rift consumer version arrives hopefully next year. I just need a bit of a boost for now so that my current system...
Marv,
you're quite right of course re getting to a local store. Probably Richer Sounds in Cambridge would be my best bet but it's still a 120 mile round trip for me. I gave them a call and they are in agreement with you that the Yamaha would be the best choice for a warmer sound and I think...
Thanks for your replies.
I'm looking at the Onkyo TX-NR609 (or the newer version NR616), Denon AVR2113, Yamaha RXV473, Sony STR-DN1030 and the Pioneer mentioned above. Too much choice! :)
All seem to have quite a lot of features that I wouldn't use but things like the wi-fi built in to the...
Looks like a beast! Probably overkill for my requirements at the moment though. Also, Budget is an issue now having emptied the coffers with the TV and Blu Ray purchase.
Just got my self a Panasonic TX-P50GT50B TV and DMP-BDT500 Blu Ray player and am looking for a 7.1 amp with 3d capability to go with them.
Budget is up to £300 and the amp will be used mostly with Blu Ray and occasional music.
So far there seem to be a few choices ie Yamaha, Onkyo, Sony...
Lots of common sense in that post Crizzy.
Whilst I mentioned 'mid-life crisis' I don't think I'm of the pipe and slippers brigade yet. It's only a couple of years back that I was wringing the neck of an Aprilia Tuono. Bit of a 'mans' beast it has to be said and has been likened to riding a...
