When are you going fully electric?

That's user error isn't it if they just driving it like a normal ICE car and not charge it. Each has it's ideal use case. Deviate too much from that and of course will not be the best choice. Depends on use case I would say. If driving lots of local miles and can charge cheaply especially then...

When are you going fully electric?

I'd say it's the other way around. Self charging is a con although I wouldn't quite call them that, the plug-in ones are not. And plug-in hybrids are also self-charging anyway (under braking or can switch mode to recharge the battery from the engine).

When are you going fully electric?

Covering long distances frequently would be the only thing that'd tempt me or if I wanted a weekend toy but in this case would be in addition to an EV. I definitely don't think I could own a manual car again. While more engaging, changing gears manually just seems a little backward now. Just...

When are you going fully electric?

How many miles on it? You're comparing a brand new Tesla to how a used one might be. The new one hasn't had time for those American parts to start falling off yet :). Joking aside, the latest M3 is supposed to be built very well. Personally I wouldn't touch a used Tesla or probably any EV unless...

What's the furthest you've been in an EV?

Approx 380-400 miles in an i3 (42kWh)in one day which was also the first time I had gone over 100 miles in a day with it. All went fine, just obviously planning well beforehand where to charge, where to go for backup if chargers not working. Played it safe on the way to the destination then took...

    Obesity

It's one of those things a good GP can learn for themselves. Learning should never end with formal training. We can each learn nutrition and healthy eating for ourselves too, without going on a training course.

    EV Car tax question.

Ignore the word 'tax', should be about saving the planet moving forward as we're led to believe we're helping to do by driving an EV , hence why I think going on weight which is on the V5 I think, is a good idea. Will also help move people away from the idea of wanting a vehicle with the largest...

    EV Car tax question.

I like the idea of using the vehicle weight when it comes to EV's or combination of weight and an official (tested) efficiency rating. £180 for all is a bit ridiculous but typical of the UK these days.Maybe will flip-flop on it later :D People should be encouraged into smaller/lighter EV's as...

    EV Car tax question.

Was wondering too. I've been expecting it to be finalised by April 2024, if it's not already, and from then it will include a chargeable component. So if if road tax renewal due in May then would pay one month (£15), two months if in June etc. Not difficult to do but it's the public sector I...

Best food for a mouse ?

Downside with that is it'll be away from all its friends, family (mice are very social creatures) and potentially straight into the mouth of a predator. Can understand why some say releasing is not actually that much more humane than snap trapping. Will give it a fighting chance but at the very...

Best food for a mouse ?

What is it eating in the kitchen? Use that as bait. While mice are less neophobic than rats, it might still help. If eating oats for example then can still use peanut butter as a base but sprinkle the oats around the trap and some inside the bait holder with the peanut butter. Maybe first try...

When are you going fully electric?

£55-70k, just a bit overvalued . Wouldn't be so bad if it came straight from the Royal Household but some other pleb :D been driving it since Dec 2021 and taken it from 3000 King Charles miles to now 35k (32k pleb miles). 35k Jag and 6 years old, probably half knackered by now too. Nice colour...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

They had an all electric EV RAV 4 too, many years ago, but didn't sell many. I noticed someone had one running and think they said most of them still are. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_RAV4_EV I think they can easily catch up tbh but I don't think they currently feel the need to go all...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

I've seen the odd Youtube video pop up about this but I expect they're got the wrong end of the stick. Toyota one was about I think (never bothered watching) but I very much doubt they're pulling out of the EV market and are supposed to have vehicles in development. Toyota apparently have stated...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

Oh, that's the human race isn't it :). There will always be those against some change and go to extremes and these days it's easy for anyone to go online to find lets call it 'evidence' to back their own belief/bias. As with all EV owners I'm sure, I've had to put loads of people right and try...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

Who is saying battery tech isn't allowed to evolve? Not me. I don't know why you'd think that Battery tech has ramped up in the last 10-20 years but it's also been around as long as the ICE itself but only recently become a realistic alternative. The first battery powered car came about in...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

Yep but that's what R&D is for. If we looked at all the current reasons not to do stuff in the past we'd probably still be using horse and cart . Might have particular use cases in future, who knows...

Is the end of Battery EVs coming?

BEV's are here to stay but alongside other technologies too I think and rightly so, partly from a security perspective. They're not a perfect solution and just like ICE, not exactly a new technology either. Storing energy onboard has downsides vs generating onboard but can't ignore the free...

    10 year CPU refresh time

Q3 I believe or sooner especially for AMD but OP is on a 10 year old system so what's another 8 months? Buying an AMD processor now, while it might be a little cheaper than on first release, you're buying the same now as you could have over a year ago. AMD's usual release cycle is yearly I think...

    10 year CPU refresh time

OP, if you've not upgraded for 10 years why not wait until later in the year? Current AMD processors are in an extended cycle this gen, so have been on the market over a year already when normally they'd have been superseded by now, and Intel offering a rehash I mean refresh. So, both AMD and...
