    LG 38GL950G - 3840x1600/G-Sync/144Hz

It's a better iteration of the panel. So it's DisplayHDR600 instead of 400 on the 950G, it is freesync, so open and doesn't use a fan (cheaper too), and it has thunderbolt 3 for charging and display signal as well. So pretty much better in every way. Should be cheaper too, if the TB3 isn't too...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

I thought they'd been manufacturing these panels since May. But it's still not launched in most european countries and we are under triple digits for large countries like the UK. Are LG having huge manufacturing issues?

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

What a strange monitor, the freesync version. According to LG Display the HDR capabilities are 500 nits peak. In this review the HDR has lower brightness than 400 nits SDR. Clearly there must be a firmware issue here? Freesync 2 also requires low latency (although that is not defined afaik). Yet...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

TFTCentral says I'm right: All you've seen is the typical brightness of 400nits, NOT the peak brightness that is the core of HDR. Notice how the 5K ultrawide DisplayHDR600 (34WK95U) monitor only shows 450 nits typical and no peak values (it's 750 nits btw). Peak luminance is what needs to be...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

Normal monitors are at 300 nits. The freesync is 400 nits typical and 550 peak. You don't need local dimming to have a nice HDR experience. Personally I prefer not to, as the local dimming gives a lot of issues with fidelity. So it's almost double the peak than a normal ultrawide gsync monitor...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

The freesync version has it. If you have an NVidia GPU, ask NVidia to support freesync. They could do that with a driver update in like 5 minutes. It's not difficult for them to.

And what happens if you overclock the controller? What happens to the connection over the displayport port and the displayport cables? Do they run at a higher frequenzy than the standard allows? If so, then yes, it's literally overclocked.

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

What a small world. I guess google failed me. Good to know, and yeah it looks like it has few zones in that panel. But I've heard other complain about bloom in the X27. After all, unless there are as many zones as pixels, you will always have some bloom. Question is, if you notice it in games...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

You can overclock the mhz of the connections in the Displayport ..well port. It's 540mhz. This was upped to 810 for DP 1.3. To increase the bandwidth of the Displayport, you need to overclock it. This can be a separate controller chip, but it can probably also be built in to the FPGA chip...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

I would assume so. But on the existing monitors on the market, the panel was overclocked too. Here, it seems to be only the gsync module. I believe it's the FPGA chip that is overclocked, but some say it's the Displayport 1.2. I guess it could be either or both. 8+2 bit FRC is enough for even...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

The LG 34WK95U is DisplayHDR600 with an IPS panel (LM340RW1) with a peak brightness of 750 cd/m2. We are even talking same gen. panels here. So there's no excuse.

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

DisplayHDR 400 only. The panel maxes out at 550 nits, where 600 is needed. Really dumb. It's 8+2 bit FRC, which is enough for HDR600. I just don't understand why they didn't add 50 more nits since the 5K ultrawide has that.

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

Probably just the localized version (as in European). 240€ is the price of a subpar gsync module. And even vendor locked in. What a joke.

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

I think there are a few issues with both the Gsync and freesync versions: These monitors are not 10 bit (F might be 8+2FRC) They are not DisplayHDR600 (despite being just shy of about 50 nits in standard). This makes them (at least the freesync version) not good enough HDR. Odd considering the...

Can they just make those new sterrox 12cm fans in nice colours? I'd like 2 for my new CLC build.

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

I absolutely believe the Gsync version will use the old module, because it's limited to 120hz overclocked. But the Freesync version (34GK950F) is 144hz natively. So it needs DP 1.3/1.4. As such, it has to be a panel that can handle it, and as such, it will be DisplayHDR400. That is still...

    LG 34GK950G, 3440x1440, G-Sync, 120Hz

The Freesync version will be 144hz. The Gsync will be 100hz (120OC). At a measly 400nits, this will be a DisplayHDR400 monitor, which is very disappointing.
