Cheers. It's just the way the control panel tests seem to infer that they will work out the correct MTU value based upon some URL calls.
I'll look for into it.
I did have to take a deep intake of breath during the flashing process. :)
I haven't tweaked SNR yet as I have noticed that my noise margin can drop to 2.6/2.7db in the evening. Wondering if that means I could get stability problems if I change the SNR?
I also did an MTU test and set it to...
Hi guys,
Just to let you know, I just flashed my D834Gv4 to 1018 and it all went perfectly.
I just used the web interface and after the flashing process, I used the rear reset button. I was then able to login and set it all up.
Loving the new options in the firmware. Probably just me, but the...
Ah cool. I read that the web method on the Netgear control panel was the most risky method - at least that was inferred, though it's the one I was hoping to use.
So you just upload the IMG file and then it tells you to do the button reset?
May have to try that at the weekend..
Thanks for that. Which update method did you use?
I'm very tempted to do the upgrade as it would be nice to see if I get any sync improvements and to play with SNR changes.
I thought 1018 was prone to bricking though?
Or do I just have to be careful with how it's applied? Is NFTP the preferred approach to upgrade the router with 1018?
Thanks for looking for me guys.
Although is there no sign of 1012 for the D834G v4?
I am tempted to try 1018 but still quite twitchy about it based on the comments on the thread. :)
Hi guys,
Only just got my DG834G v4 and as I do DGTeam decide to shut up shop. Typical. :)
Any chance one of you kind gents could link me to or send me the 1012 firmware for my router? I've found the 1018 FW but after reading this thread I'm really not sure I should attempt to flash it...
Just to add to the above, here are some pictures I took of the screen with the pink tint no the left, green on the right:
Picture 1
Picture 2
Picture 3
Picture 4
Picture 5
Not super easy to see (would maybe show up better in a dark room) but it is there and is more obvious in normal...
Hi guys,
Just to update you, after owning two of these models for 3 days here is what I have.
One of my monitors had some lazy pixels issues - cyan pixles flicking on and off (often all over the screeen but only on certain images (colours). However this turned out NOT to be lazy pixels but a...
It does sound like they have quite a good process for monitors though I must admit that I suspect that a lot of it revolves around them taking returns from unhappy customers, giving them a new unit or refurb but then just sending out the returned monitor as the next refurb to go out. So getting...
I must admit I was thinking about getting a calibration tool. Have done for quite a few years but never got around to it.
It's weird with these monitors though. I've actually had to reduce the gamma today using the Windows 7 calibration tool but not to a level which shows as 'right' - i.e...
;)
Have to give this some thought I think but great to know Dell may very well be the best and most helpful option. Worst thing would be to return to my supplier and then be told there is nothing wrong with it. I get the impression Dell just replace them no questions.
Certainly complex but...
Excellent - thanks for your help on this.
If I go the Dell route I assume that I'd then have to always go to Dell - i.e. never back to the original supplier? Which is probably not an issue.
I would want a brand new one but I assume Dell would advise me of this when I call right?
Also...
Aha, so even if Dell see it was ordered within 30 days they will still send a refurb unit? Shouldn't it be brand new if faulty in that period?
Thanks again for your help. I suppose I'm just thinking that if I go to my supplier they would have to send me a brand new one, although there is then...
Hi there,
Thanks for your replies.
I did test both monitors in each DVI slot and I got the same results, in fact you can see the difference in brightness when the monitors are first turned on without a signal as the 'no signal' messages are brighter on one of them.
However, I do think...
Hi guys,
Just got two U2311H's this morning and am a little disappointed that one of the monitors is brighter and has a better white level than the other. However, the one with the better white level has about 4 flickering pixels that seem to appear mainly on my desktop picture - though I've...
Hi guys,
Just wondering if the vertical viewing angles problems some people have mentioned in here (even from a close distance from the monitor) on the HDBL model, is also an issue on the HD model? I see a lot of really positive reviews about the HD model and none mention vertical viewing...
