    q6600 or q9550 on a P31 board

And 2 beers. Though I think I'll get him a few extras, I feel like I'm robbing him.

    q6600 or q9550 on a P31 board

Yeah, I'm wary, I can't remember the figure, but I have a vague idea that I couldn't get above 340. Anyway, he's flogged the 9550 anyway, and feels guilty so I've just got the 6600 for £35 and a couple of pints. Not a bad deal.

    q6600 or q9550 on a P31 board

A friend has offered me either a q6600 for £50, or a q9550 for £90. Is the 9550 worth the extra? I'm concerned that my motherboard (GA p31-DS3L) might be a limiting factor for either of them, and perhaps the 9550 in particular. He says that I might be better off with the 6600 as my board...

Is it worthwhile upgrading my 2180?

Yeah, thanks, I agree, I've decided just to put the money towards a nice i5 bundle.

Is it worthwhile upgrading my 2180?

My aim is to get a nice new mobo/ram/cpu combo in, probably about 4-6 months, likely an i5/i7 around the £500 mark In the meantime though, is it worth spending a wee bit (max £100) on upgrading my venerable 2180? Just about to get a new GPU/CPU due to hardware failure, and my CPU is...

    The £200 question (again)

Yup, I'm going to go for it, I had a sneaky look around to see if it was available with free postage anywhere (my pet hate) and it's still in stock at 399 elsewhere. ell oh ell

**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

Thanks, I'm leaning towards the SOC, and at only a tenner more, even if it was just a wee bit quieter I'd be well chuffed. Night and day, sounds like a big difference. Thanks for the info

    The £200 question (again)

Yeah, £200ish is my budget max, though I'd love 570 my PSU purchase rules it out. Not too bothered about the load volume levels, are the 480s reasonable at idle? -EDIT- just been advised in the other thread that the SOC is nice and quiet, so at £220, it looks very, very likely.

    The £200 question (again)

Posted a few weeks ago when pondering a 4950 (to unlock) or a 480. Just checking that the consensus is still go 480 if my PSU can handle it. Going to splurge on a Corsair PSU so that's sorted. So 480 still the bees knees, or has something else developed that I've missed (GPU buying is...

**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

Thinking of maybe getting one of these. If I get a SOC and underclock it to standard speeds, would it be nice n quiet? Or am I just as well to get a standard card, like the Asus? Not too bothered with the slight increase the OC would give, but that cooler looks pretty good. If the standard...

So many options circa £200. Help me..

Yeah the PSU is past it tbh. I was looking to replace it soon, but money is the issue. As always eh. Looks like either a PSU/GPU if I can get the cash together, or a 6950 if not.

So many options circa £200. Help me..

crossfire isn't an option at the moment sadly. Mainly due to the "unplanned" nature of the upgrade. As for the PSU, it's actually a OCUK one from 2008, if I recall, it was about £50, so I don't think it'd be the greatest supply to be honest. I think that Huntkey(?) was the manufacturer, but I...

So many options circa £200. Help me..

Haha, and I thought I'd narrowed it down. Anyone else like to chip in on this (and any other) card. Not too noisy is it? Oh, I only have a 550W PSU, would that be sufficient, probably should have mentioned sorry.

So many options circa £200. Help me..

Ohgod, I've just wrecked my trusty 4870. There goes my SSD dream 24" 1920x1080 Looking to spend £180 to £220. Probably between a 560Ti and a 2GB 6950 (to be flashed to 6970) Can I have some opinions please. I've lost track of the latest and greatest, and have spent a day or so coming to the...
