For what it's worth, one of my clients (the one that I always get these devices from) asks people not to put cases on. Apparently they had tons of issues with them damaging hinges? That's annecdotal from me - I've seen the emails about it, but not seen the actual damage. I tend to put the...

I'm fortunate enough to pretty much get my hands on every generation for probably back to 2008 and the original poly ones. The 17" one was definitely one of my favorites - fab screen for the time, and the combination of an SSD & a spinning drive (replacing the DVD) was incredibly useful. Big...

Doesn't surprise me! I only go to site maybe a day or so a week, and even that's only a 15 minute walk from home. The 16" adds a chunk of mass to my backpack, annoyingly so. First world problem, 100%! I also have a client Lenovo in my bag too so that doesn't help. I can't imagine using the 16"...

As a quick side-note, the way it reports time on battery is...lol wut. 39 hours on battery? It really means 39 hours since I last plugged it in I guess.

I now have a 16 M3 max (12P4E/48GB) and a 14" M3 max (10P/4E/36GB) if anyone has any questions. Main thoughts are I can't readily feel any performance difference between the two in day to day stuff except when running stuff in FCPX and Lightroom - when they're both exporting the 16 I can carry...

One oddity we're finding is that the build on the new M3MBPs is proving fairly unstable out of the box with docks and external screens. Our team has been blasting and reinstalling them on day 1 and the problems seem to have gone away. Very odd. As a quick side-note, I've picked up one of these...

    London pollution & ULEZ

Yes, yes it did - but then there were fewer planes too. One of the things I quickly noticed was that my windows stayed clean! Normally they last about a week before they're caked again. It was hugely noticeable where I live near Canary Wharf. Even the canals were showing very clear water.

    PCN - challengeable?

I use that City Airport Racetrack short-cut a lot, and I had no idea about this and have never noticed it. I imagine I'd make exactly the same mistake! Do you mean coming off the roundabout and heading toward Newham Council/Airport??

    The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Have just bought a Sony A7CR as a replacement/upgrade for my A7 IV. I also have a 6400 that I use some of my older APC lenses on - I'm hoping that using them on the A7CR at 24MP will be a lot better than using them on the A7IV (came out about 10 ish)....so I can also get rid of the 6400. It...

    BMW and M Power Owners

That's bonkers high for a 3L 6 isn't it. I mostly do short journeys as I live in Central London - my 2019 M2Comp has averaged about 25Mpg over those miles, which is way better than I expected. Best/worst here over 24k miles.

I've had a lot of success - well, twice I think - with those puncture repair kits. Those times were a screw/nail in the tyre. You'll need a jack etc. but it's just another measure to avoid having to wait for the RAC.

    Moving to a Macbook

I'm fortunate enough to regularly use several different units - currently on my desk for example I have an M2 Air (I'm using it right now) an M3 Max 16", and on my desk at work a 14" MBP (and an Ultra). I've also used a few M2 15 Airs. I have to say I don't really 'get' them, I can't think of a...

Ref 14 vs 16 - If I wasn't a single desker - I.e., I may visit sites, but it's only 1 site, and 1 desk per visit - I'd 100% go with the 14. The 14 does feel a decent size more usable than my M2 Air Travel Buddy. The 16 feels like a lump in my backpack by comparison.

Well that's weird. Ordered last weekend, due 4 December, no shipping notification, and it's just turned up. Go figure. Having looked, they put a GBP0.10 through on my credit card, and then the full value yesterday.

I've been playing/setting up a couple of M3 Max 16/40 core 14" units and they do feel incredibly fluid to use. Fans seem to ramp up faster than my own 16" M2 Max though - surprisingly so tbh. Not intrusively, it's just not something I notice on my 16". The comparison to the M2 Ultra is...

And yet so joyous - loved that car - put 120k + miles on it before it started making expensive rod-bearing type noises.

Must admit this is the first release in a while that I'm 'enjoying' as such. I've not really noticed that many new features as such, but it's fixed some long-term annoyances. File transfer times over 10Gbe now are way more consistent (SMB) than they were previously - and SMB multi-channel seems...

    Post your dock, right now!

I usually have mine on the left when using my laptop, but at the bottom when desk'd with multiple screens. Anyway.
