..So it seems that some have ghosting and some do not? Is it a production quality issue, although it is hard to believe this for a NEC monitor. Or is it that some are more sensitive to ghosting?

what do the other owners have to say about this ghosting issue, seems to be a big one.. I'm about to purchase this monitor so some hands on experience would be really crucial!

It is a question of personal taste/preference. There are countless topics on this matter on diverse forums. To each his own. All discussions regarding which one is better are irrelevant.
