Can this deep scratch be fixed?

You can actually remove the anti glare layer. It's just a thin sheet of plastic glued on top of the lcd panel. You can remove it simply with wet paper towels (Google it). I've done this before and it's relatively easy to do

    Mixing ram manufacturer and speed?

Match all the timings in the bios to run at the slowest sticks settings and all will be fine. Have set up hundreds of systems using mismatched RAM, and whenever there was a problem it was either faulty RAM or the bios trying to run them too fast.

    New rig or upgrade?

New GPU would give you the biggest bang for buck if you wanted to upgrade.

Samsung 850 SSD getting hot, not sure why?

Nothing to worry about. Look at the reviews and you'll find that they go much hotter than that.

AMD RADEON RX 460 NOW IN STOCK FROM £99.95 & OcUK VIDEO REVIEW !!

Just to note that all hardware as a finite lifetime. A 4 year old card that works perfectly today might not work perfectly in 6 months time. At that point, neither OCUK Trust or eBay would recover the money. The probability of this is not zero (otherwise warranty period would be longer than 2 or...

AMD RADEON RX 460 NOW IN STOCK FROM £99.95 & OcUK VIDEO REVIEW !!

Just wanted to add that many of the second hand GPUs I've bought from the MM have died after about 4 years of use, including 7850s. Price to fps ratio is not the only evaluation metric. It's a big gamble spending near half the cost of a new GPU on something that isn't guaranteed to last any time...

QCK XXL or OcUK Mega Mat XXL?

OcUK with the stitched edges. Makes a huge difference to the longevity. My first (non stitched) megamat from 2014 lasted 2 years, and it was the frayed edges that motivated me to replace it.

    Samsung SSDs and software

The only Samsung software that would make any difference is 'RAPID' mode. However, the consensus is that it's not worth bothering with: http://superuser.com/questions/742765/is-it-beneficial-to-enable-rapid-mode-on-a-samsung-solid-state-drive So, no, don't install Samsung software unless you...

    6600k cooling OC

As more of an FYI, my 6600k is running at 4.2ghz (1.25v) on this tiny CPU cooler (small case): https://www.overclockers.co.uk/arctic-freezer-11-low-profile-cpu-cooler-hs-050-ar.html You probably don't need to spend £80 to cool a 6600k at 4.5ghz.

    6700k, Asus Z170i, fixed voltage?

http://overclocking.guide/skylake-overclocking-power-consumption-and-voltage-scaling/ You should definitely change from adaptive voltage.

    Anyone done a PhD?

I'd recommend it, but as said above, make sure you'll be able to fund yourself for about 6 months after the funding runs out (usually 3 years). I don't know many people who were able to completely finish within 3 years (i.e., be able to start a job in the 1st month of the 4th year). The...

Professional / Workstation disk setups, what are people running

To answer your question, I am also a software developer working on data analysis problems, and have been using consumer samsung SSDs in my PCs since the first generation without failure. My current Samsung 850 EVO has been flawless. I take a disk image every week, and all my files are on a...

    Juicer Recommendation?

^ The distinction is important. Do you want carrot juice that would pass through a sieve or not (fiber or not?).

    Hazro HZ27WiDP

I tried to contact them 3 months ago using their website's support system in order to get a replacement power brick. I've still not received a reply. Even if they ship the monitor to you, what happens if it breaks in 6 months?

    Skylake and mATX

There's variation between mATX z170 boards on CPU power supply (phase counts etc.). There is no other reason why mATX would perform worse. [ Old article but relevant: http://www.overclock.net/t/943109/about-vrms-mosfets-motherboard-safety-with-125w-tdp-processors ] If you choose a mATX board...
