Can I overclock my CPU with the motherboard I have?

You need access to the AI Tweaker page in the BIOS to get at the settings for overclocking the base clock - this page would appear to be missing in your case, guess that overclocking wasn't something ASUS intended for that board, being able to change the multiplier won't get you anywhere on the...

    i5 750 oc for a newbie

There never was a K version for the i5 750 but you do get a choice of multipliers, up to x20 (or x21 if the motherboard allows it). I am currently running 200 MHz base clock (stock 133) with a x19 multiplier to get 3.8GHz but more is achievable with a better cooling solution. With a good...

    i5 750 oc for a newbie

The only software I have seen has been provided by the motherboard manufacturer, e.g. ASUS AI Suite. Don't be too afraid of overclocking via the BIOS though. I can give you some advice if you want? What clock speed are you looking to go for? And what CPU cooler are you using?

    Bottlenecking 250GTS SLI?

Easiest way to find out is to record your FPS then overclock your GPUs a touch, if there is no increase in FPS then the CPU is bottlenecking. You can confirm by overclocking your CPU a bit and seeing if there is an increase. Overclocking the GPUs a bit with Rivatuner would be the easiest, no...

What can cause a loss of BIOS settings?

On an old system I would automatically think that it was the battery, but the motherboard is only a few months old. I have had to do a fair few hard restarts recently (holding down power button to switch off) and it has happened twice after doing this. Can that cause the BIOS settings to be lost?

What can cause a loss of BIOS settings?

I have not cleared the CMOS using the jumper, or removed the motherboard battery.... What else can cause all my BIOS settings, date/time, the lot to be reset?

    i5 750 @ 4GHz - 75°C max load OK?

I would be ok with those temps too, you will probably find that they will be around 10ºC cooler whilst gaming. I wouldn't like to have it running at the 75º 24/7 though that's for sure.

4870X2 DVI Socket broken, advice please

Ok, well panic over I guess. I'm plugged into the other DVI socket, which looks like it's never been used and everything is ok.... Weird that absolutely nothing happened when I did that before! It got me really worried! I'll just stick to using the second socket from now on. Thanks all

Coolit omni alc, self contained GPU water cooler.

I'm very interested in the Omni, should work a treat on my 4870X2 which I think was the card that first prompted them to start making it... Not so much of a problem for those with the 5000series cards but I definitely want to cool down my card without having a super loud fan blasting away...

4870X2 DVI Socket broken, advice please

Is it just plug and play? I assumed that's what I could do but I got no display when I did that initially...? I'll try the other port again in a minute, if it doesn't work I hope I can get my bodge job working again!

4870X2 DVI Socket broken, advice please

Here's the story, Swapped the DVI cable from my old PC to the 4870X2 in my newer one, powered up and no display.... The DVI socket on the card always was a bit chewed up (after buying 2nd hand) and when I removed the cable one of the contacts had snapped off. It is the contact that the...

I7 860 and P7P55D EVO. cant get past 3.3. please help

Your setup appears to be behaving in exactly the same way as mine (i5 750 on a P7P55D LE). It is the RAM, you have 1600MHz RAM and your BCLK is at 160 so the divider puts you right on 1600MHz which is great. If I go even 1 MHz over the a BCLK value that gives me 1600MHz selected on the DRAM...

    4870x2 High temps under load?

As said before the most likely cause is dust buildup. Take it out and give it a good blast out with air to clear it away. These cards run hot but not that bad. 45% fan speed and maxing just over 70ºC on mine....

    ***Nvidia GTX480 & 470 reviews & discussion***

So, in the Anandtech review benching on Mass Effect 2, the very next game that I will be playing, both the 480GTX and 5870 are beaten by the 4870X2 (which I bought recently for £130). Sits back and feels good..... :D

    I5 750 Cannot get to 4Ghz

You will definitely need more vcore than you currently are using to get 4GHz stable. I am suprised that you have 3.8GHz with the voltage at 1.18, what are you using to test for stability?? Please beware with the link to bit-tech, they used a VTT voltage WAY ABOVE the absolute maximum (1.21...

Fritz Chess Benchmark/Super PI Thread 2010

Ah ok, I can see from your screenie above that there are 4 cores showing for Fritz now. They aren't bad for £96 at all! The i7 860 is pretty impressive in Fritz actually considering it out performs the 920's (just), any ideas on that one? :p

Fritz Chess Benchmark/Super PI Thread 2010

UPDATE :D I've put all the other results in the table. I also tried to do the colouring scheme suggested earlier in the thread with different shades for 4 cores, 2 cores etc but Excel 2003 doesn't have that many colours and the dark blue and dark green looked a bit harsh on the eyes so...
