I made this exact change a year ago. Sold the 5900x for 3/4 of the cost of the 5800x3d and I'd say games do feel smoother overall with better lows. It is noticeably slower on other things however, like installing games or pre-loading shaders but those tend to be one off things anyway so doesn't...

100% stable. Any higher on mhz and start to get crashing at that voltage.
Older games don't go above 59C, more demanding titles can push up to high 60s, although I suspect it is more the vram causing the heat!
Since the 42in C2 is pretty much out of rotation now, has anyone had any desktop experience with the replacement C3 model? Sounds like you can't turn off some of the aggressive screen protections like you could with the C2 and just wondered how that was for owners.
I feel like they have already discovered the price ceiling, likely on cards below the 4090. Sure there will always be someone buying whatever the price but sale volumes clearly not amazing in the lower tiers
Yea seems safer option. As someone who was genuinely tempted to buy a 4090, I just decided the cost is just too high and the risk too vague. Better to wait for the refresh or the 50 series at this juncture.
Still on the Gigabyte 3090 Vision. I was sorely tempted by the 4090 but I have held strong so far and will wait out the next series.
It also matches the white NV7 pretty well, although looks small by modern standards!
Same here tbh. I have used their extension cables for years without issue, for me this is more an issue with Nvidia and the inadequate connector design, although admittedly I wouldn't touch those 90/180 degree adaptors with a barge pole.
I have the Gigabyte 3090 Vision and it has been fine for over 2 years now. The memory chips do run ridiculously hot however due to the rubbish thermal pads they used in these. Imagine the 3080 would be a bit cooler however with less memory and none on the back of the PCB.
