What have you done to your car today?

Its almost like the picture people curate for their image on the internet isnt a true reflection of reality. Tis the norm for the social media generation...

    Show Us Your Motors!

Hmmm So I need to dig out some old family photos. In 1990 my Dad bought a red 325i touring and I spent a few years of my childhood in the back of it. That number plate looks eerily familiar. Did a 5 year old me throw up in the back of acme's car? Maybe....

    Air con issue

I dont understand why any sane person would buy a bottle of gas for £50-60 when it costs less than that to have it done properly

How many Focus ST owners on here

Mk3 doesnt have the T5 engine, it has a 2.0 ecoboost and is £225 to tax. Guessing most of the common issues above dont apply either :)

    Selling car

Ebay was the only route that I took which generated any interest so I'm inclined to agree - lots of ad space and formatting ability to make a good listing too. The only trouble I had, and it might have been me being an idiot, was that it didnt have the option for a classified listing any more...

Any way of retaining equity in PCP car when downgrading to a cheaper second hand car?

Yeah you're probably right, I'd just want a settlement figure so I would know for sure - takes 5 mins to call and ask and means you can actually start working out numbers. I think you're getting mixed up with the different options and ways of settling. Its not wrong because I've done it ;). The...

Saloons cheaper and SE is the entry spec compared to sport - doesn’t have a lot of things! Was about 60 quid IIRC

    Selling car

I dunno, I see them as broadly comparable in a lot of ways They're both relatively well specced diesel mid size hatchbacks with reasonable performance, relatively new while being out of manufacturers warranty. Not going to start a "my car's better than his car" thing but surely the target...

    Selling car

Cars at the very bottom of the barrel are there for a reason :) It's only 500 quid more than the cheapest comparatives and a grand cheaper than similar cars at dealers, it's been maintained meticulously, has quality tyres on it, no damage and in a desirable colour....... doesn't sound like a...

    Selling car

No, quite - they're clearly not worth 8-10k I dont think either of those others were there when I was looking at comparatives, chances are they've seen mine and pitched it a bit cheaper. If I was in the market for something I'd be calling all of them as its not a huge gap in price. There are...

    Selling car

;) It's only really seen as the "devils fuel" by petrolheads but the doubt and uncertain future are making other buyers wary. It's also been reflected in used car prices though, petrol versions of mine - despite being significantly slower and more expensive when new, are advertised at about a...

    Selling car

From experience of trying to sell a similar car (a 2014 Mazda3 diesel) - I think its pretty hard for 2 reasons. First is that people spending 8-10k+ tend to wand a warranty and finance etc. Second, diesel is really not the flavor of the month at the moment. Valuation puts mine privately at £8k...

Any way of retaining equity in PCP car when downgrading to a cheaper second hand car?

Do you have a current settlement figure from the finance company? If that is less than the value of the car, you'll get the difference back in cash or as a deposit/contribution for something else. If it is more than the value of the car, you'll need to stump up the rest to settle it Without...

    Car Insurance confuses me sometimes...

Like I said, there is no "why". The risk factors they use dont have or need an explanation attached to them. Lots and lots of data from historical policies and claims - if having a claim in conjunction with everything else on his policy makes him a lower risk then it'll be a lower price...

    Car Insurance confuses me sometimes...

Dont try to find logic in insurance, there's no point. Its a giant mathematical statistical problem, not some dude at a desk saying "hmmm, I think that should cost £x"

Any way of retaining equity in PCP car when downgrading to a cheaper second hand car?

I did exactly this. Dealer valued the car at an amount higher than the pcp settlement about mid way through the term. Took the car back, walked away with a cheque for the difference and finance cleared. Ended up being equal to the deposit I started with pretty much. All depends on the equity though
