There usually is some under thermal pads IMHO.

Yup changing the TIM between the cooler and heat spreader has made no difference.

sorry to hear that. I was there myself. For about 24 hrs the fans were going crazy. Then I updated with firestorm and it all went away. Maybe try one more time in safe mode with no afterburner loaded?

I realise the firestorm software did not update the bios, but whatever it did, it fixed my fans !

I had EXACTLY the same problem as you. The fix was to run the latest firestorm to update the bios. It failed to update the first time, so I restarted the computer and it updated the second time. Once the new bios update was on the fans behaved normally. If that does not do it I would flash it...

Yes mine just arrived. On the email yesterday it said Mon-Friday DPD shipping, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned up today (Saturday). Thx Overclockers !
