    Panel going bad? Acer X34P

I think if it plays up again I will record another video and go through the RMA process with OCUK I suppose. The monitor/box is enormous and will a nightmare to return, and it will be a double shame because the actual panel is defect free, but the symptoms are very concerning and does not seem...

    Panel going bad? Acer X34P

The one reason I was not sure it could be a cable problem is that the distortion appears even on the monitor OSD screen, which I would have imagined is rendered directly on the monitor and not sent through the cable to the GPU?. Of-coarse I could be wrong on this one.

    Panel going bad? Acer X34P

I have had the monitor for about 1.5 months now. The first time this issue appeared was about a week after having it. Note that the distortion/pixelation appears even in the monitor OSD. Eventually after about 15-minutes of troubleshooting everything I could the issue just disappeared, and so...

    Radiator failure

The first loop I only used distilled water and a silver-kill coil. No growth at all but a a fair bit of black tarnishing, especially on the CPU block. My interim GPU-only loop I added EK Cryofuel inhibitor just to play it safe. It's pretty interesting I am not the only one who has had this...

    Radiator failure

Interesting. Was your radiator that failed vertical or horizontal? My top-horizontal radiator was the one that failed, and it was also closest to the pump. My remaining radiator is vertically mounted outside the back of the case and seems fine so far, but I will leak-test it for sure before I...

    Radiator failure

A while ago my custom loop started very slowly dropping water levels. The loop consisted of 2x Thermochill PA 120.3 radiators (pretty ancient, 9+ years old but always looked after) and a Laing DDC Ultra 18W. The fluid was distilled water and a kill-coil was used to inhibit any growth. I...

Do you think AMD will be able to compete with Nvidia again during the next few years?

In the high end market, I am doubtful AMD can compete in the next year/2. They have not been so far behind Nvidia since the R600, and even then they sort of bounced back with the mid-range HD38XX series. They can make a fast semi-high end card in the Vega, but it's costs far too much to...

Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti Windforce sounds like dishwasher

I sort of have this with my Inno3d 2080 ti (although the temporary noise boost is not particularly loud as the card uses pretty decent Scythe 92mm fans that don't need much voltage to go from 0 to low rpm mode). When the fan exits is 0 rpm idle state they boost the voltage/power a bit to make...

    2080ti Temps

My Inno3d 2 OC sits at around 78c during a 20minute Heaven session. That is with a custom fan profile with max rpm at ~1950 or ~55% speed. I have a lot of case cooling, with a few fans synced via PWM to the GPU temps so it would be a fair bit hotter in a more closed case.

AMD Announces RX 470 and RX 460 cards

Assuming 15% to 20% reduced performance compared to RX480 (reduced shaders, 5%+ reduced clock speeds) I think this card needs to be ~ £160 for 8GB.

    3570k vcore vs GHz

Found the exact same thing, my chip hits a solid wall at 4.4Ghz at around 1.32v, trying to get 4.5 takes 1.4v + and even on watercooling the temps go up past 80.

Which is a better deal? 5820k vs 6800k

Broadwell-E has had minor IPC improvements, it's about 2-4% faster clock for clock. Due to lack of refinement however, it clocks worse, uses more power and runs hotter. J batch 5820k would be a much better choice imo.

Will Kabylake i7 be hex core?

Frustrating thing tho is that the high-end of the mainstream line of i7s is fair bit faster clock-for-clock to the high-end of the enthusiast line atm.

Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Exceeds the motherboard PCI express power specification by ~15%, really doubt any of these reference cards will have much overclocking headroom. Non-ref cards need to have 8pin power.

Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Only really seems to be competitive with Nvidia's previous generation. Disappointing. Really needs to be £155/£180 imo. Worried about AMDs current architecture.
