That would be my guess also. Maybe over 40MH/s with the right tweaks (both from AMD and developer). The 27" 1440p looks like an amazing monitor, but then you look at the specs and notice the freesync range being only 80-120 Hz (wtf?) and the monitor being curved with no VESA support. Thought the whole point of Freesync 2 would be to make sure the monitors used a wider frequency range!
