Can anyone recommend me a service centre for my Seiko SARB033? It ran really accurately for a year or so, then I noticed a drop to minutes slow per day. It was purchased via Ebay (seller in Ireland, I think) so I don't think I've got any recourse with Seiko themselves.

Only varnish / paint will provide a hard barrier between wood and fat/oil etc. Anything else - wax, Danish oil etc - won't make the surface impervious to all that hot tasty! Though they will give a modicum of protection. It depends on whether you want to protect it or if you want it to "weather"...

If you're looking for something everyday, Seiko do a cchronograph around £200 - SSC013P1. Citizen AT0361-81L is available at Argos, and looks like it would pair with other straps easily.

They Shall Not Grow Old, Peter Jackson's WW1 documentary. It was a simulcast with the red carpet event in London, and there was a Q&A with Mark Kermode and Peter Jackson's afterwards. The footage, all at 24fps, was astonishing at times. My word, the teeth! Never seen anything like some of them :)

Yeah the lume is pretty weak - I've got a steel version of the Ray Mears-type Citizen Eco-Drives and the lume on that is fantastic in comparison: all-night glow and it's a lovely pale blue. It's a bit of a pity on the Mako, as the Explorer-type layout gives loads of area to light up.
