I need a decent x070 class card at a £500 price point. Can't be cut down that much or it becomes x060 class. I also expect a generational compute increase without them trying to price match it to the compute power provided by the previous generation. So pricing the 4070 at 3080 prices OR MORE...

I'm desperate to replace this aging 1070 but really, those prices are stupid. I mean I CAN afford it, but can I justify it? We are all sat here waiting for normality to return after the madness of the pandemic and chip shortages, but nVidia obviously have other ideas. I've not had an AMD card...

Thanks all for the input. Looks like X3D is the cheapest and best bang for buck for that motherboard. Maybe along with a 4070Ti (grrr - oops wrong forum) :)

My main concern with 5800X3D is if its a big enough upgrade over my existing 3800X to be worth it, with the same core count.... But its now cheap enough to go for it anyway, and 2/3 of the price of the 5950X which at least doubles my core count from the current CPU.
