I went from a 4770k at 4.5ghz to a 3600 with an RTX 2080 and whilst my FPS hasn't shot up by more than a few % my lows are much better and I no longer get the stutter I was getting across a number of games.
I went for the 3600 so I can justify getting a Ryzen 4000 CPU when they come out.
Not had any issues so far with my 3600 and RTX 2080 and my friend who has an i5 4690 and a GTX 960 has had no issues at all except having to run on low settings.
Used to use userbench to compare a customers PC to the minimum requirements of our games. This change has made it harder for me to advise people that their CPU is the limiting factor so I guess I need to switch another site for performance comparisons.
I went from an overclocked i7 4790k @ 4.8ghz to an overclocked 3600 @4.2ghz and whilst my FPS hasn't shot up due to playing at 1440p it has eliminated the frame drops I would see on a regular basis.
Everything feels much more smooth in all the games I play and that's with an RTX 2080.
I have the same board and not faced any issues when in the BIOS.
I'd probably try flashing the BIOS overwriting your existing one just in case it's a corrupt BIOS issue.
Managed to get my 8Pack RAM to CL14 at 3733Mhz but a friend has tested and found it better to stick with 3600 CL14. Will do some memory testing tonight as once I find the sweet point I'm done at last with my rebuild and can focus on games
I've not had much chance to fiddle too in-depth but I got mine at 4.2 on all cores with 1.125 vcore. I started off much higher but constantly lowering it I managed to find what mine seems to like.
Memory timings have been odd though each time I change them one CCX goes back to stock clocks...
Got my 3600 running at 4.2 with 65-70c. Not tried tightening memory timings yet as still getting used to my 8pack ram. Has anyone got any experience yet of what timings the higher binned kits can achieve.
Not sure why people keep chiming in on the pricing of boards like the Godlike.
If you don't see the value in it then don't buy it and go for a different board. For some, I guess the Godlike has value for what they need it for.
Least they are arriving before 12. I got the message yesterday my new motherboard was due at 1930. At my work address so had to call DPD to rearrange as the building will be closed. DPD then returned it to OC so now I have a CPU on the way today with no motherboard in sight.
I play at 1440p and use a RTX 2080. I decided to go with a 3600 rather than a 3700x and go with better RAM.
Looking at the benchmarks on YouTube etc at 1440p the difference is pretty small as it's more GPU bound.
DPD wouldn't let me change the location of delivery without me contacting OCUK for them to change it.
Buzzer broke so whilst being home I missed 2 delivery attempts one being an extra £5. Sadly they sent the text about not being able to enter after already driving off both times.
Guessing they...
