In case you hdn't pinged it, S@H will be off-line 'till end of Thursday. This is to complete repairs after the powerline short circuit two weeks ago. Hope you've got some work in 'yer cache.......
11,000? You need to post this on the NC forum. I think that many tasks will get someone's attention. Post it in the Internal server error thread.....
....for those interested in the S@H 'long game' this thread:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=67906
hints vey strongly at what you can expect from a 680 (), using the optimised app' currently being beta tested (read the post from Jason G on May 2nd, 17:39 UTC). This...
Right now, the best S@H output for a single GPU is from the 580s. However, the Lunatics crowd will produce an optimised version of the app' that makes better use of the 680 architecture - but that is likely to be a slow process.
...you'll need to go down a bit deeper that that. If you accepted the defaults at install, you'll need to go to:
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\
Mr Toxic - the cone of shame is now yours for an extra week!!!!:D
The 680s do have a huge increase in double precision (DP) capability - unfortunately, S@H uses virtually no DP calculations - apparently a limitation of the accuracy of the telescope data being analysed. I'm not saying I think CUDA will be abandoned - its just that this card is first and...
The 'word on the street' has indicated that the 680s may well have a potentially useful performance gain. Unfortunately, nVidia has changed the physical architecture of the GPU a great deal (between Fermi & Kepler) - and has apparently kept their development community completely in the dark as...
Toxic - I'm disappointed. :(
The pre-release stuff is **** and bull. GPUUG gets diddly in that regard. If you want the pre-release stuff just register as a lunatics beta tester - and then 'sign' the Nvidia NDA to gian access to the next gen' CUDA libraries. But be prepared for some nasty...
You'll also find that a lot of the task reporting on the S@H website has recently been disabled to help with bandwidth consumption. Just keep processing and the points will come...!
Scuttlebut has it that we're in a shorty storm for S@H; stuff is being turned around very quickly by those lucky enough to get work hence the pipes being maxed out.
Only for Rosetta I'm afraid. There is a lot going on behind the scenes @ GPUUG that will be benefit S@H greatly both in the short and long term that I want to continue to play a part in - I will say no more at this stage.
