Seems fixing Jermain Defoe issue on the database also fixes the Spurs issue as it was a sale clause that mean that Portsmouth gave Tottenham £1,000,000 after X league games - although in the bugged version they gave them £1,000,000 every game he played in :P
"Who will it affect - People who have the Worldwide Soccer Manager digital download 8.02 patch only."

Yeah! That is why my copy of FOOTBALL MANAGER 2008 has this bug. :p

I took that from the link you gave me. ;)
Yeah, it lists two bugs :) But in all fairnes he's not exactly written the bugs well, looks like one bug. Can't believe the test teams missed that though, so basically none of the internal or external test teams which is probably hundreds of people noticed that Spurs became mega rich and Pompey wen't into administration.

Issue - Tottenham become very rich, and Portsmouth poor, in the first season.

Who will it affect - Affects all newly started games with 8.02 data update.

Fix - using the data editor provided with the game, load the 8.02 database into the editor. Search in the "clubs" section for "Portsmouth". Go to the "finances" tab, then "contract clauses 2". Find "Jermain Defoe" (5th from bottom in the list). Change "per league appearances" to "after league appearances".

Issue - Problem with the WWSM Mac digital download data editor, and not being able to find users edited data.

Who will it affect - People who have the Worldwide Soccer Manager digital download 8.02 patch only.

Fix - Go to Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/db

Move files in there to Documents/Sports Interactive/Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008/db

Start game, and the files will be there.

Ah I see what you did there. And what Miles did there. Quite poor layout that. :(

And yes it is quite abominable that no-one spotted that. Aren't they meant to have the data checked quite rigourously?

Yeah, apparantly have quite a few people internally that sort all that before it even goes out to the testing teams. It's kinda odd what they did to Elano as well - they'd increased this stats a lot, he's insanely world class in 8.0.2. Pic below.

Whoever think's he's that good is smoking something.

Hmm. Might load up the 8.0.1 patch and copy his proper stats over.

I know hence why i said look on page 3 onwards :p
:p

By the way has anyone else noticed how FM now takes up the full width of the screen? I don't play fullscreen so I can carry on with MSN etc. In the past having FM windowed meant there was space on the left and right of the screen. Its gone now, for me at least. Anyone else got this?

Not for me, it's just the same as normal. Tried just double clicking the title of the application to shrink it down, or manually dragging the sides inwards to their lowest point (which is 1024x768). By the way Marc, any chance you can add the 8.0.2 patch information to the first page mate, just for people browsing the thread and can't find any links.

I'd try the following:

Pressing the minimise/maximise button on the top three button on the top right, it seems to be maximised in a windowed state so clicking that button will bring it into a state that lets you drag the sides in to make the window smaller. When you click it, it'll probably still be maximised but the difference being should be that the sides, top and bottom should be dragable to make it smaller. Failing that I'd go into the preferences and tick "Full Screen", then confirm, then go back in and untick and confirm again and see if that fixes it.

:)

Now we just seen proper widescreen support for FM! Looks horrific when playing on a widescreen TV/monitor as everything is just stretched.

Oooh, what skin is that please?

It's the Dynamic skin available from sortitoutsi, it's the best skin I've ever came across :) Very well made, you can download it from here and the original link from sortitoutsi is here

I wonder if it was intentional from SI Games? Must be? Can't see how new graphics drivers could do this.
I would have agreed but I'm not getting the issue you are, could just be something messed up on your install.
