*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Yeah the 3G is pretty damn fast compared to EDGE, I was getting over 1.3 Megabits when I tested it earlier. The only downside is that it seems to make me feel nauseous when I use it, I guess I must suffer from some sort of Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity. I have never experienced it with my 2G (GPRS) phone or anything like Wifi which is strage but I only start to feel nauseous whenever I start using the 3G, very strange, it sort of like a headache but it fades as soon as I stop using it.

sorry, but i have an original iphone, is edge free? no monthly chargeor anything? is gprs free too? and 3g?

Depends whether your on one of the iPhone contracts from o2, if your using a different contract then no it's not free (unless you pay extra for it), as for 3G only the new iPhone has 3G, but EDGE and GPRS are free with a real iPhone contract on the old iPhone :D

Okay I'm sticking with my initial impression - the battery life on my phone is utter crap!
Today I have used 3G internet for less than five minutes, wireless internet only to grab my emails so less than 1 minute and sent 10 txts and I've had to charge it up as it got to 20% by 5pm...I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with it now...

Shocked Adam, mine seems fine, wifi & 3G on all day grabing e-mail from gmail and exchange, few 5 mins phone calls, some quick texts, (7am till 5pm. then when i get home some messing on the device some games / internet / youtube, sees me down to 30% by 9pm.

I am now off this Friday, will have to see which Manchester store will have a 16gb in stock for Friday.

Annoyed with O2 now, they have added 'Unlimited Anytime UK Texts' bolt-on to my tariff and I didn't ask for it

That's an extra £7.50 a month I don't need, and their system is down so I have to ring back in two hours.

Good luck there. I have been repeatedly told that their warehouse will be clear on stock for a while now as they struggle to fill up back orders. I've still yet to get one but at this rate can't see 16gb versions appearing this or next week.

Just got back from the Apple Store in Brent Cross, were all out of Black 16gb's so got a white one. Fairly impressed after hearing about activation woes, the bloke put my sim card in and said "it takes up to 48 hours... oh no, its activated already, there you go". Chuffed to bits really :D

Same here

Ah, i'm not the only one then!

Same bolt-on been added for you then?

It seems the activation issues are gone now, O2 have got rid of their huge back-log :)

Just re-syncing all my mp3s after doing the restore to get the updated firmware for it, but so far I'm pretty impressed, I have had an iphone for a couple of months now and the GPS addon is brilliant, 3G gives me almost no signal where I live so I've turned that off, but my biggest gripe with the iphone has been completely fixed, the speaker is actually audible now!
