i just got dead space 2 but i'm so disappointed

I tried getting Kreeee over here but he must not have had time. He customises beat em up controllers and thought he might have been able to knock somit up with a good button and stick layout that you would have found comfortable.

Phew, just finished reading through all 48 pages of this thread...

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said, so i'll just say it again.
Gareth, you are a legend. Your determination is awesome. A lot of us probably hadn't really considered the problem as we hadn't really considered the circumstances or scenario that led to it.
Just incredible!

Also, Chuck, I think what you've done is brilliant too. You don't just play the games, you play them online too! I thought it was bad for me just because I'm not very good at Black Ops! And on top of that Free-for-All? That's got to be the toughest mode surely?
Also the work you had done beforehand on this was great too. And you don't seem to be annoyed that it recently seems to have become as much about PCs as consoles, which is good of you.

I think it's become more of an issue these days as so many games seem to be console ports complete with no or limited control customisation. Hopefully if they add the feature into the PC version of Dead Space 2 then they can port it back across to the console version.

I hope they do patch Dead Space 2 for you and I hope it doesn't stop there, hopefully we'll see a return to full control customisation on PCs and consoles.

Also it feels about time someone should mention autohotkey again... :)

On that note, while I realise the ideal solution is full customisation, lets be honest it's not going to happen overnight. So in the meantime I had a look around for some mice that might help. Maybe programs like autohotkey will work better with a different mouse where it will work with all the top facing buttons.

Now I've only managed to come up with 2 mice that might work. Since I'm not sure of your requirements and haven't used either of these myself they are merely ideas that might be worth investigating further, maybe.

First off the Genius Navigator T835
http://www.geniusnet.com/wSite/ct?xItem=16547&ctNode=105&mp=1
Now I'm not sure about the length of this one or the shape. It does seem to have a lot of top facing buttons, but I'm not sure how many can be customized in it's own or 3rd party software.
Also, as I can't really imagine how you'd use a mouse with your chin I don't know if those buttons would be usable due to size and positioning.
OcUK don't seem to currently stock them either, but I'm sure somewhere online would have them.

And secondly, the Logitech VX Nano.

This one should be smaller and lighter as it's a notebook mouse. It looks to have 5 top mounted (programmable) buttons as well a scroll wheel that does left and right too. Again the question is how many of these buttons will be usable for you due to size and positioning.
It does have a low dpi though, not sure how important that is to you.
It doesn't really seem to offer much more than you current mouse except that it's Logitech, which I imagine raises compatibility with 3rd part software.
Also the Logitech SetPoint software allows some customizability, especially if used with UberOptions.
I use a Logitech MX518 + SetPoint 4.80 + UberOptions and can set up game profiles for most games and can customize every button (8 of them) on the MX518 (with the exception of the scroll up and scroll down actions). The only games it doesn't seem to work with so far are Valve games (e.g. TF2 and Left 4 Dead).
Again, not sold by OcUK, but Google may throw up a UK retailer or 2.

Hope those suggestions may be of some help.

And I think both of you (Gareth and Chuck) are inspirational.

(Please excuse and spelling or grammar errors, it's very late/early. I've now been up for 21 hours)

You are one lucky man Gareth, just think of the amount of people suffering in poverty with no chances of what you are able to have right now. ;)

do u think it was easy to get the setup i have now???

i had to go in a lot!!! of deat (wrong spelling) to get what i have now...

I think he's just worded it wrongly. Perhaps he meant "Other people with disabilities and limited or no access to technology must find it tough."

I'm sure people with Cerebral Palsy living in mud huts in Africa do have an even worse time of it (as an example), yes. Painfully obvious though :p
