***Official GTX 670 thread***

My GPU isnt a good clocker at all :(

I finally managed to get a stable overclock ... +25 / +600 (1240 / 7200), but setting it +30 for 1250 Mhz was crashing.

Very good ram on my card though, might work a little higher now that I found out it was GPU being unstable at anything at or over 1250 Mhz.

+25 / +650 = lock up.

+30 / +600 = lock up / driver crash.

+25 / +600 = safe. 1240 / 7200 is the maximum my card will go, underwelming GPU, great ram.

I think the minimun clock is the base clock and the boost frequency is added to the base clock when added when under load

What's my base clock then?

My card it the reference the KFA2

Just tested Binary Domain out and in game (not in menus etc) it's dropping the core right down to 550Mhz at times, wouldn't it be better to keep the core higher for a faster frame rate?

How does the gpu decide to lower the core clock in game? I want the maximum frame rate at all times like old gpu's gave you, I don't want my gpu down clocking the core in game, there must be a way to stop that.

I've got work in a minute but later on I'm going to pop in the nividia forums to try to get a proper explanation for how the clocking works on these cards.

Try reducing your memory clock and just seeing how high the GPU goes.

From Hardocp

On the memory side of things we managed to take it up to +200MHz for 6.4GHz memory clock frequency. In our testing, we saw more of an advantage overclocking the GPU frequency, than we did the memory. The memory was actually able to overclock higher, but doing so hurt our maximum GPU core clock headroom. We'd rather have as high of a core clock frequency as possible.

ur base clock must be 915mhz (from product description) like the 3.3Ghz from 2500k something like the stock clock

all this stuff came from what I understood from reading. someone might have a better explanation :D

the case of the card downclocking to 550mhz must be a power saving feature. my 4870 does this in some games when the power is not needed.

can you post their explanation once you got it? Id like to do some reading as well

Ok so i've been having a play....

AMD 7950 3dmark 2011 default performance mode:
P7285 3DMarks

Nvidia GTX 670 3dmark 2011 default performance mode:
P7718 3DMarks

The 7950 being a pre overclocked powercolour PCS+ and the GTX670 being the MSI which is also pre clocked.

Also did some heaven 3.0 comparisons:

that's obviously no tweaking involved, CCC and nvidia control panels at default, no messing about and with driver cleaner used to wipe the drivers fresh in between.

EDIT: oh and max temp, albeit cool in my room at the moment, is 80oC which i logged during my run of heaven. So i'm expecting more like 85 when it's a bit warmer.

And my only worry is that my PC rebooted itself right at the end of my first attempt to run heaven, but i think that might have been connected to having two monitors running in the way that i did.

ARGH! DPD can go to hell and burn

Delivery penned in for between 17:30 and 18:30. By my watch I opened my front door at 17:31....and I have a missed delivery slip from DPD, no sign of a delivery van so they must have been running early.

So whats my options now? Phone and pay up to get a Saturday delivery or wait until 'sometime' Monday for re-delivery.

Not happy at all!

So you mean even if in the product description it states core boost is xxxx it could infact be more or slightly less?

My windforce boosts up to 1175 at stock settings, despite the product listing saying boost it's 1058 :)

I like to run mine at 1250 GPU clock and 3305 mem clock. Temps dont reach 70, so it's all good. Silent too, can't hear it unless I reeeally try.

What speed is your CPU being run at? Someone posted a stock Windforce heaven bench and got 72 fps, the Windforce is only slightly higher clocked than the MSI OC, so I would have expected faster than you got.

Well all you guys are making me envious now. DPD said the time is 'an approximation' and then proceeded to charge me £12 to get it with me before 1pm tomorrow.

So I'm spending the evening with my friend below while reading over all of the comments and reviews on the 670's from you guys :p

I'd laugh if you drink too much of that and don't wake up in time for the delivery :D

Could you try clocking the CPU a bit and seeing how much of a difference it makes?

Will do soon, though i doubt i'll get time this evening.......i guess i should put this giant noctua NH-D14 to good use :p
