my obvious one for the price would be this one, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-148-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1673

is that a wise choice, or should i spend 20 quid more for a better one?

thanks!

Depends if the MSI 7950's are still having problems, if they are then the Gigabyte seems to be the next recommended one.

@Op, play the DCU II first, then play another at the same time, you'll find out what's the quietest easy enough.

That ones a turbo not the boost? Are they the same?

From what I understand they call it TURBO as it has the AMD BOOST bios, the BOOST bios is unlocked and ups the voltage a bit to allow for higher stable clocks. So it's at 925Mhz rather than standard 800Mhz. The newer models have the BOOST bios and are faster.

What I would really like to know, is it possible to flash the bog standard HIS HD 7950 IceQ non Boost version to the Boost bios as it does have dual bios switches. I have a normal bog standard one now and a new boost version coming on monday and I really want to know if I can updat the bios so they both run the same clocks ?

Hmm think i might have to order me one of these instead of the MSI i was leaning towards. Just avoid the potential issues with the MSI altogether. The gigabyte seems highly recommended though...but if this one is as good as people are saying then why not.

How are HIS for warranty etc?

+1 for the HIS, I bought one a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier very quiet very cool and overclocks like an animal it's a fairly big card though so make sure you have room for it.

Personally wouldn't have gone for Sapphire myself (Or HIS for the others thinking of them), MSI/Gigabyte have a year longer warranty and a RMA service which is streets ahead.

People get so worked up on a couple of degrees/dbs/clocks to forget the more important stuff. :p
