Hey folks,

Just wondering, has there been any developments in the world of wires about outputting 4k resolutions at 60hz, from r290 cards.

I know it wasn't available a year or so ago, but there were rumours of things in the works that might make it possible. Can't see much though after a Google.

Considering getting a 4k TV, and this might just make me do it : )

I'm not sure on the display port side of things really. Possibly on higher end models, but was just seeing this as an added bonus to a decent 50 inch screen I've seen which has the 2.0 / 2.2 inputs.

That sounds promising AMDJoe. Hopefully it will appear. I'm sure I read a similar thing a year ago though. I'll keep an eye out for it : )

I've had samples offered for testing so it must be close to launch :)

AMDJoe hasn't this fabled converter been close to launching at around the same time of every new launch of the AMD GPU line or whenever anyone asks or complains about the lack of HDMI 2.0 on the AMD cards? Would it not just be easier to put up the cost of the HDMI 2.0 port like Nvidia does and sell cards with HDMI 2.0?

Nice!

You seen or heard of it in action?

I think as a rep, it would be good of you to keep us updated about this. Pretty please ; )

This is a Club3D product so I'd recommend you keep on eye on @GBlonet's Twitter account for updates. He's more likely to know about stuff before I am.

I'm sure it would make things a lot easier and I don't know the decisions behind why it isn't on the cards.

I do know that Club3D has an adapter coming, Gerjan (Club3D rep) has shared product shots, pricing and an estimated launch date and that's all I can offer I'm afraid :(

I've seen what look to be generic non branded ones on sale at a couple of places - though no idea how legit - and that guy that posted the custom build on youtube said he had an adapter and that it worked but no info as to how he got it.

But yeah, as above I think most people are hoping the Club3D one is out soon - though I don't think anyone is holding their breath.

Well looking back through the Twitter feeds, the rep says that testing is complete, and packaging done, and they are now just waiting in their arrival in mid December. Quite a bold statement to make if not true.

But perhaps I'm just being too hopeful : p

That rep is me and although they were delayed further, we will (finally) start shipping them in volume on 30 December!
