**Bioshock Technical Thread - Not Official**

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I downloaded the demo and got no mouse pointer and the graphics were all screwed up:

bioshock_demo_screenie.jpg

I tried it full scren and windowed, made no difference :/

Any ideas? I tried the ATi hotfix, no joy..

System specs:

X2 5200+
ATi X800 GTO2 @ 850XT flashing
2Gb ram
etc..

Quite tempted to try this game ouit, obviously no way I'll splash out if the demo won't run.

anyone got any fixes for the no aa?
Not yet, well nothing 'proper' the guy who does Tweakguides.com is getting the game very soon so I expect we'll get some info sometime today. :)

The engine does support it but it's a tad buggy with the lighting, will probably get a workaround soon.

Not for the lack of trying I can't get the Demo to run in DX9 mode in Vista 32bit. Tried the right click Directx9 on the icon and the -DX9 switch on a shortcut and it just crashes.

I'd like to use the widescreen FOV app and see what it looks like with AA and I don't have XP installed. Any ideas?

Yes, On install the game seems to set itself up for the hardware configuration it finds, I instaled with crossfire dissabled and had to reinstall to run 2 cards

Take a look here http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5689

just played the demo there and it ran ok at a low res with mostly full

probly not good enough FPS for some of you lot but it was good enough for me :)

Anyone got Vsync working on a nVidia card?

I don't mean in-game Vsync either, the control panel method to force it.

Doesn't work for me on 163.44 so I have to turn it off in-game which results in flickering lighting.

Am having problems as well with Vsync on this game with my 8800gtx,,,Shows up really bad on dell 24" monitors.. (this is with the bioshock demo)

I got AA working in the full game, only works for dx9 atm though.

Screen 1 - AA
Screen 1 - No AA

Screen 2 - AA
Screen 2 - No AA

Screen 3 - AA
Screen 3 - No AA

Pics with AA = Dx9 mode.
Pics without AA = Dx10.

4x Supersampling was the AA used, no lighting issues or any other rendering issues performance seemed fine no slowdown in the short time I played, will check later.

All pics are full sized, not scaled down with max settings in-game.

EDIT: Using Vista x64 with nVidia 163.44 drivers.
