The player will be able to select between various types of vocations, of which nine have been revealed:

Fighter, Warrior, Mystic Knight, Strider, Ranger, Assassin, Mage, Sorcerer and Magic Archer.

Gender choice and appearance settings will also be available.
While the player's party is exploring the world, the three party members who accompany the main character will be controlled by artificial intelligence, but the player can issue orders like "Go", "Help" and "Come to them". One of the party members is a non-playable character (NPC) and belongs to the main character's world. The other two party members are NPCs borrowed from other players by connecting online, but the game will not require an internet connection. However, the player can only borrow the NPCs from other players, not their main character. The party members will talk, seek the main character's help, and provide information about enemies. The player will need to work on strengthening the main character and the party members.

The game will feature a "grab" action, where the main character can grab on or cling to enemies, objects, or NPCs. The player can use this feature for more advanced attacks. For example, the main character can either grab on to a giant griffon's legs and attack it directly, or climb up to reach its head for a more lethal blow."In a lot of action games, with big enemies the tendency is just to have you hacking away at the shins. You don't get the full effect of fighting a giant boss," Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Dragon's Dogma, said. "With this game you can climb all over it. If it has a body part, you can attack it." The ability to climb enemies has drawn comparisons to Shadow of the Colossus.
In addition to the large open world, Dragon's Dogma will also feature a large city environment with over 200 NPCs who will move about according to their own time schedules. The player will be able to communicate with the residents in full voice.

Seems to have free roam like oblivion, customizable party combat (unfortunately just Ai not human co-op :() and climbing up monsters to kill em etc heh :D

Not due till end of may but **** ** it looks so good will probably be a day 1 purchase for me. (v rare for me haha)

I'm looking forward to this since it's Capcom's take on the Western RPG fantasy genre and it's their biggest developed game so far.

There are some evident Monster Hunter influences in this so that is a plus for me.

how the pawn system works (ie your party members)

you can pimp your dudes out for others (other players online) and when they come back to you they have lots of new goodies and experience :D

hope the AI in this is good coz it seems to depend on it a lot! (party system)

I also like how they have done daytime and nighttime in this game. Being out in the wilderness at night far away from the town is actually dangerous now.

love the wolfshead helmet :D

It seems this is rpg-lite and you can change your class very easily it seems.

Developers worked on resi evil 4 before this and call me crazy but a couple of sounds i thought instantly of res evil 4 (the ching! coins sound) i dunno maybe it was the inventory layout or something.

bit more about the porn system...whoops sorry i mean pawn system where you can pimp your pawn out for hire...

Also more info on the CLASS and JOB/VOCATION system

CRAFTING

excited yet? :D

This looks very good if only it was on the PC :p

Looks alright though, I prob won't buy it day one on my PS3 though.

I'm also hoping for a PC version too since it would feel and play a lot better on that. With Capcom's PC support being decent enough, hopefully it would be the case.

I do hope the AI is competent in this because if any of their previous games have shown, i.e. Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2, and now RE: Operation Raccoon City (Even though this was Western developed and not an MT Framework game unlike the others), they can be pretty stupid.

Been following this game for quite some time now. Very excited about it with all the new footage that has arisen over the past few months. Already have a copy pre ordered with the bonus DLC. I'm a big fan of monster hunter and shadow of the collosus aswell as RPG in general. This seems to have a nice mix of these games and the genre. Shame its still almost 2 months away heh!

Holy ****!!!! Why have I not heard of this game???

Looks amazing, will def have to get this, its exactly the kind of game I love.

Surfer really impressive thread buddy :D

The article about how they used the MT Framework for this game is quite interesting, especially when it mentioned how their previous games were stage-based, and have to transition from that to something open-world.

Any improvements and upgrades that they can find for their engine is very welcome, since it has been very good and successful internally for Capcom thus far.

new videos. Also you notice the team AI chat hints tactics etc...if you think its annoying (spammy) then you can turn it down or off even.

DLC which you get if you preorder the game is as follows

Pawn Upgrade Pack - Begin your Dragon’s Dogma adventure with an additional 2,000 Rift Crystals! This early ‘cash advance’ will allow you to enlist higher level PAWNs early on in addition to having an expanded set of items available for purchase at Aestella's shop in Cassardis!

Weapons Upgrade Pack - Start off your adventure in Dragon's Dogma with a weapon upgrade!
This weapons pack will stock your item storage with dependable weapons for Fighter, Strider and Mage. With an Iron Sword, a Criteria, and a Wooden Staff, each upgraded, your adventuring will be a piece of Cassardian Fishcake.

Armor Upgrade Pack – Commence your adventure in Dragon's Dogma with an armor upgrade early in the game. This armor pack will stock your item storage with sturdy armors for Fighter, Strider and Mage. A Farewell Hood, Farewell Gloves, and a Farewell Cloak will help you no matter your new vocation, making your adventures sweet and easy as Meloirean pie.

Watched some more combat gameplay (japanese 5 min gameplay thing on youtube) and its not as tight as i would hope.

Also of all the vids we just see combat boss fights and customization of pawns...ok thats great but i really hope this game has more to it...

no horses/mounts

no pickpocketing

no kinect compatibility
