LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

mrk, just having a look at this photo again:

Is that actually how your display looks for colours with your own eyes or is just how you processed the photo? Just having a look at the same scene on my monitor and it looks a lot cooler but perhaps more realistic? I can achieve a similar colour tone as yours but everything else just seems too warm and vivid then.

Obviously you wouldn't expect a like for like colour reproduction given all the different factors.

Calibrated display vs non calibrated is the difference I'd say.

Ah yes, I don't think I took a white balance reading for the movie screenshots for those 29EB93 photos. It's quite a faff getting the white balance right when photographing movie screen grabs.

Just did one for that same scene on the 34UM95, have to shoot RAW then adjust white balance in post to get it near 1:1 side by side with the video window in Lightroom. This is how it looks:

Well here is my new monitor lol.
My first one only had ips glow in the corners because when you looked straight on at the sides you couldn't see it but if you look straight on at the sides on this one you can see that nice white backlight bleed. The glow kind of masks it when you look from the center of the screen but when you move left or right to the sides you can see the backlight bleed there too as shown here.

Thanks for clearing that up mrk! :)

That photo looks much closer to mine now.

Bah! Unlucky matson :( You going to send it of to LG to repair then?

Yeah Just waiting for them to call to arrange pickup. They said they would replace the screen most likely and personally check it afterwards to make sure its okay.
Makes me wish I kept my first one as that had minimal bleed, just ips glow.

You going through ocuk for this repair? If not, personally I would as they have a 28 day thing so if you haven't got it back by then, you can request a refund.

I've decdied to take my other 34UM95 off of MM and return it to the retailer for repair. I have included strict instructions and details on where the bleed is and that I want that left bottom corner the exact same as the other 3 corners since they've been able to fix those just fine.

More incentive to buy then for prospective buyers :p

£65 to ship back... Sent the invoice to them to get refunded of course.

Well my patience is in good standing now that I have a good panel so the only thing is to wait for the other one to come back and then sell it and make some money back :D

Update on bleed issues by someone else on reddit, I've asked for some pictures but he says he fixed the bleed himself so maybe those of you with bad bleed could try this out too?

Well, in case this might be useful to anyone, I was able to fix all the bleeding myself.

I used a thin piece of cardboard to "massage" space between the panel and the frame on the sides , applying very slight pressure bending inwards and outwards and that has gotten rid of the side bleeds.

The bottom bleeds were caused by the bottom plastic piece slotting into the main frame creating extra pressure points.

I've detached the piece from left and right slightly and put it back in making sure it does not fully "click" back into slots.

The whole procedure took around 15 minutes and was unintrusive.

It's been a week now, the bleed has not come back which makes me think that the fix is permanent.

I read that. Don't think I'd want to try it though. I'd rather just let lg replace the panel. I will admit this is getting very tiresome though lol. I can't have imagined a £800 panel would give me so much stress. Wish I'd just kept the first one now. Hopefully lg fix it and I can finally enjoy using it.

I agree it is unacceptable especially given the cost and that the issue is so so simple. Why couldn't they have just used simple glue for the bezel or less tight fitting clips that didn't put pressure on the side and corners of the panel causing bleed!

On another note, the shipping refund has processed today \m/

Someone do this and make a YouTube guide!

I will then bow down to you and accept you as my new god.

Yeah for the top it's the metal chrome bezel and how tight it is fixed to the panel edges as the edges are very sensitive.

Definitely a design flaw with the casing and not a panel issue.

IM not having much luck with anything lately. Firstly my £800 monitor has only been here two minutes and has to go to LG for repair because of very bad bleed lol and then my £400 speakers only just get here after being lost in the mail the first time and they come with a 2 pin plug which I cant use. Awsome :D.

Simple solution to that, chop the plug end off and wire up a UK plug. Easy as pie as long as you know your blue from your brown and if it's an earthed lead then green and yellow too

Managed just to find 2 spare monitor cables so all hooked up now. They don't fit on my desk though with tis LG monitor haha. The sound quality is incredible though.

As you can see more room is needed lol.
