Hi guys, lots of talk recently about the stuttering problem of the 680/70, so I thought I would start a thread so we can all list if we actually get the stutter and if so, in what games.

I don't get the stutter, so will list what games I play.

BF3
Trine 2
Dirt 3
Black Ops
World at War
Skyrim
Diablo 3
Farcry (thought I would play this again in 3D)

None of these games have stutter for me. So if you have stutter in any games, list it and we can compare settings and see if there isn't something us end users can't come up with. This might help while NVIDIA work on a fix.

Reported games that don't have stutter.

AC Revelations
Alan Wake
Anno 2070
Arma II
Assassins Creed Realations
Batman Arkham City
BF3
BFBC2
Borderlands
Bulletstorm
Civilisation IV
COD MW3
Company of Heroes
Counter Strike: Source
Crysis
Crysis 2
Crysis Warhead
Darkness II
F1 2011
Fallout New Vegas
Far Cry
Fear 3
Frozen Synapse
Guid Wars 2 Beta
Half Life 2
Jamestown
King Arthur II
Kingdoms of Amalur
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 3
ME3
Metro 2033
MOH 2010
Payday: The Heist
Portal 2
Portal 2
R.U.S.E
Red Faction Armageddon
Ridge Racer Unbounded
Saints Row The Third
SC Conviction
Serious Sam 3
Singularity
Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity
Skyrim
Sniper Elite V2
Space Marine
Sup Com 2
Total War: Shogun
Trackmania 2
Trine 2
Virtua Tennis 4
Warhammer 40k DOW2
Witcher 2
World at War
World of Warcraft

Reported games that do have stutter.

Alan Wake (Moving power management from adaptive to full on solved this)
Batman Arkham City
BF3
CS:Source
Dead space 2
Deus X
Dirt 3
F1 2011
Fifa 12
Hard Reset

I had severe slowdown in batman ac, the steel mill to be more precise where the sparks are flying all over the place near the furnace. I no longer suffer from that while using the 301.42 driver. I am still testing other games though.

Do you get it at all now in Arkham City? If so, I will add it to the stutter list.

following are stutter free with 301.42
Crysis
Crysis 2
BF3
Batman Arkham City
Skyrim
Alan Wake
F1 2011

Updated and thanks for the input. Could prove to be very usefull.

Could prove interesting if the above poster (above you gregster running 680/67- SLI) tested fifa?

It is a relatively rare combination of cards to run at this moment, maybe just maybe it provides the answer?

The only issue I can see here is people knowing or not knowing ingame settings / forced settings at this stage. At least it should be possible to determine whether hardware fault is the concern from a cards/stutter/ stutter free compilation.

Keep up the good work

EDIT:

Skyrim,
Dead space 2,
Hard Reset,

All reportedly causing 680 stutter here by the OP : http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226227&st=100

It is also possible players are using different drivers, AND/OR are playing with VSYNC OFF

I tested my games with the nvidia inspector pstate tweak. The card run all the time with the max clock now but the microstutter still persist with vsnc on. It seens GPU boost is not the problem.

Thanks for the input. I have added those to the stutter list but I would rather stick with OcUK users, so we can work together/ask questions to see if we can't come up with a lil help. Our knowledge combined and what works for some may help others.

I have just tested it again in arkham city in both 2d and 3d and can report that it's perfectly smooth. I flew around the whole map without touching the ground and it's perfect. Also went to the steel mill to exact spot where the stuttering should happen and it was perfectly smooth.

Never had a problem in Crysis 2 and BF3. Just tried Assassins creed 1, 2 and brotherhood which used to stutter when panning in a circular motion. No more stuttering with those games either.

I guess that these drivers are good for my config. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Do you have Vsync forced in the nvidia settings (or are there ingame vsync settings turned off?).

I find it very strange that some are experiencing it and others aren't, makes more wonder if its manufacturer dependent? OMG too many variables lol. Chipping away may show us an answer.

I use Global settings in control panel but turned off in all games,if this helps and so far all games a ok all maxed out or very high settings.
Could this be a 60 versus 120hz issue, just putting this out there to be shot down if off the mark?
Just my 2 c's!

That's very good news as I gave up playing AC a couple of days ago when I got severe stuttering at that exact point. The last time I'd played it was a few months back amd DX11 was pretty borked so had assumed it was game related....until I started seeing posts here regarding the issue. I'll need to try the new drivers and see how it goes.

The only other game I've noticed issues with on 301.24 drivers was FIFA 12 tonight, and it stuttered every couple of seconds. I found that disabling v-sync and using Nvida Inspector to change force the max framerate to 120 (I use a 120hz monitor) smoothed things out a lot, despite the clock speed still fluctuating. Not ideal though.

Games that have been fine for me include:

Jamestown
Bulletstorm
Borderlands
Space Marine
Ridge Racer Unbounded
Virtua Tennis 4
Skyrim
Battlefield 3
Battlefield 2 BC
COD MW3

Diablo 3 has been a bit sputtery at times but I'm not going to attribute it to this issue as judging by posts on BattleNet people with a wide variety of cards are reporting similar issues, so I suspect that the problem may be with D3 itself.
