This thread is for discussion of the latest ASUS headset, the CineVibe. It recently became available on the ocuk site at £58.99.

as a result of this thread, -vk- from asus generously offered to allow me to give my impressions of the headset to the enthusiast community. as such, i've written a review (with some pretty pictures!) for the ocuk members to read if you're interested. vortez hardware have kindly agreed to host the review on their site, so i encourage you to have a look:

Very good review. Although I have no intention of buying the Cinevibe, it's nice to read a review, where the reviewer compared the headset to decent headphones. Many a time I have read reviews of gaming headsets, where the reviewer talks about how it sounds for music, but then compares it only to the likes of Creative's offerings, as an example. For me, talking about a headset being used for music, but not comparing it to a decnt pair of similarly priced headphones is worthless, as it gives the impression that the reviewed headset is better for music than it actually is.

Also nice to read the rumble feature doesn't scramble your brains, and it's actually been implemented quite well.

Going by your review, it's not half as bad as I thought it would be. :)

Thanks guys, glad you liked it, and thanks for moving the thread, thought it was lost tbh!

@Marsman - It's a positive review for sure. They don't deliver all my expectations, but my initial scepticism was met with an impressive product in it's own right. Indeed, the sound quality of the Goldring headphones was never met, but that's not what the CineVibe was designed for. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who'd like them if they gave them a try.

Certainly an interesting headset and looks slick... but I get the strong feeling that they would be much improved with a 2nd revision tweaking the comfort of the pads and strengthening the support parts.
