Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

You lose so much meter because of this. You could have a risk free dragon punch instead of 2 meaty EX fireballs that do about 10 more chip damage than normal ones!

I use it when I think you are expecting a normal fireball and may try focus through it so I randomly throw one in between normal fireballs.

BTW you are coming along quite good with almost all characters now, I think if we had a session where you went through every char, and I stuck to Ryu, you would probably win. We need to do that at some point lol. :)

thanks for the points arth! i think by the time you are finished with all characters to 1000bp, i will have as many pp as you, its bad how you gain 5 points for beating me in a close game and i get 100

Yea, it's good to mix some EX fireballs in normally, for knockdowns, etc, but what i meant is when you use them after you've knocked me down. When i'm getting up and a projectile is coming, i'm going to block most of the time. So an EX fireball makes little difference. 1 bar of meter isn't worth that extra bit of chip damage most of the time.

Ehh there's still plenty of characters that i'm totally clueless with. Hakan, Viper, Makoto, etc :(

I had a storming session last night (went from 2400 to 2700)

I think playing you guys have strenghened my Chun-Li!

I even beat a 9000 point Ryu! I punched the air big time i can tell you! :D

GG everyone last night, seems like a reoccuring thing where most people seem to be online on Thursday nights after 9pm!

I deffently feel an improvement in my Chun-Li thanks to playing against you folk on here. My timings are tighter, althrough i don't think i'll much good in season 3 of the tourlaments i'm much better at ranking matches

@Rob

You just need to know when to block and when to anti-air, your game will improve no end when you can consistently anti-air.

Crouching hard kick is good as you get the knockdown, but you weren't really consistent enough. Try crouching medium punch, it lowers your body/hitbox so you wont get hit by jump ins as much, it deals less damage, but you'll be close enough to gt a tick throw in, so you'll still get the knockdown.

When we next play, i'll pick chun and show you some stuff

chun li is a very heavy footsie base character, her most basic tactics is use her movement speed and pokes to bait moves and punish, as well as to keep your opponent in an area where his/her moves are least effective.

jumping forward is generally a no no with her, because in my opinion, her jump is the second worst in the game (dont ever use the wall jump, because thats the worst move in the game!) behind hakan, although her jump in attacks are great (double hp, cross-up lk, hk). ideally the only time you should jump is when you knocked down your opponent and go for a safe jump.

first of all you need to learn the mind games of walk back and forth, wait and block, once you start doing that well, its much easier to bait out mistakes. and remember blocking lets you charge for ex sbk, ultra and super, all very dangerous moves.

the second most important thing is anti-air, because you cant do the first part well without being able to anti air well. she has lots of anti-air options, but they are generally bad (trade a lot) and some are only viable in some positions. for examples:

far jump - s.hp
mid range jump - s.mk, d/f lk, air throw, n. jump hk
mid- close range jump - s.mk, d/f lk, s.mp, n. jump hk
close range jump - none, so block
everything - ex sbk

and s.hk if he is standing quite close but you know he wants to jump, you can use it check his jump. it also work as a far jump anti air for big characters with slow jumps like zangief and hakan.

you will be much better, once you learn how and when to use what and train yourself to react to it instantly. and remember d/f lk anti air lets you combo into ultra 2, so learn how to use it.

reactions to fireball/punish with ultra/super is also very important, once you let your opponent know you can punish unsafe fireball and moves with ultra, your match will be so much easier because you can now walk forward and attack more, since they are scared whenever you have the charge. in fact most moves and almost all medium or heavy normals can be punished by super, so learn it!

the last thing you need is basic combos, most can be learn in trial mode. her most basic one thats not in trial mode is c.lk,c.lk, ex lightning legs and c.lk, c.lk, s.lp, s.hp

but i will show you more when i get a chance to play you

i will show you some of these stuff in practice the next time we play.

Lol ^ I recognise that username, I've played him and his Blanka is decent. Can't believe you won that round doing what you were. Try that against me in the league and you're getting taunted/whooped. ;)

Hey,

I just recently got SSF4 with my PS3. Considering last I played SF was back in 2000 or so, can someone help me uh..get good at this game? I enjoy playing as Abel..

I know its a bit much to ask, but, lol, a ton has changed and not changed in a way. The phrase easy to play, hard to master comes to mind.
