Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3DMark Performance Revealed – Almost As Fast As GTX Titan

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-780-3dmark-performance-revealed-fast-gtx-titan/

What now... is nvidia going to tell their board partners not to sell pre overclocked - overvolted limited editions of this card because if they do it will surely match or beat a stock Titan! This is what they done to MSI & Lightening + EVGA & Evbot over voltage!

WCCF Tech (source)
According to the latest performance figures in 3DMark 11, 3DMark FireStrike and 3DMark Vantage, the card is just around 3.3% on average slower than the $1000 GeForce GTX Titan while being upto 26% faster than GeForce GTX 680 and 27% faster than Radeon HD 7970 GHz edition. With such an improvement the GTX 780 could change the mind of those looking forward to buy GTX TItan since the card would cost way too less at $599-$659 compared to the $1000 cost of the Titan. The only advantage the GTX Titan has is the 6 GB VRAM other than which its performance is matched by the cut down GK110 core on the GTX 780. Following is the performance breakdown:

3DMark FireStrike (Extreme):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 4250 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 4087 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 3041 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 3346 Marks

3DMark FireStike (Performance):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 7808 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 7649 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 5968 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 6582 Marks

3DMark 11 (Extreme):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 4708 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 4403 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 3237 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 3237 Marks

3DMark 11 (Performance):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 9719 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 9579 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 8286 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 8556 Marks

3DMark Vantage (Extreme):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 24982 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 23951 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 19100 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 18520 Marks

3DMark Vantage (Performance):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan: 39644 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780: 38985 Marks
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: 33517 Marks
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz: 26098 Marks

The 780 does look pretty good though... maybe 5% worse than a Titan... Depending how much it costs....

The 770 as a rebranded 680 is pretty gay of them though.

According to that the GTX 780 and GTX Titan are pretty much the same performance, 2% - 3% is margin of error, nothing.

I wonder if they tested on the same rigs using the same drivers or if they just plucked some random existing Titan figures and used those for their comparison.

They are using the overall scores. A different CPU / Memory can have a significant effect on those scores, as can different drivers.

If true, that could make for a lot of angry Titan owners it coming so soon after release of the Titan...

I can't speak for all of them, but as a Titan owner, I can only say no I'm not angry, something faster being released is always a risk when buying cutting edge

for my purposes the 6GB of VRAM is basically needed so I couldn't really go with 780's anyway

Just read that the 780 will be priced in accordance with its performance. This could mean stupidly expensive ?

If we take it logiocally it should mean 15-20% more expensive than a HD 7970GE. So £450 would be about right. We both know (guess) that it will be closer to £500 or more :)

I was planning on skipping the 780 and waiting for an 880. But those performance figures are good. I suspect it will be priced too high though, in which case I'll still wait for an 880. When I do open my wallet it may as well be for a big jump in performance rather than a large step.

I'm a bit surprised at the low clock speed :

The core is maintained at 863 MHz with Turbo boost of 900 MHz

Seems like a backwards step when we already have GHz cards.

If those figures are true then I have to say wow nvidia. I don't know but I may come into one soon if the results are that good, 780 SLI would be sick...

Edit// voltage control is the decider for me, I want them under water...
