Decided to go for the SE K800i as my new mobile. In the end went for the brown one! It is not really brown but a pretty cool looking brushed metallic bronze colour on the face. The back of the phone is more of a brown colour but looks pretty good. The phone is superb however, my only slight reservation is the durability of the lens cover on the back.
Not really tried out the camera functionality yet however, I am really pleased with the software on the phone. Sychronising with MS Outlook on my PC was a doddle. This offers a really quick way of loading all your contact details, appointments, tasks and notes onto the phone using the SE PC Suite software. If you make any changes to Outlook simply connect the phone and synchronise to keep your phone updated.
I have gone with T-Mob on their Flext 20 with Web and Walk. 3G functionality is better than expected. I downloaded Google Maps for mobile in literally seconds. This app is simply brilliant if you like maps and overhead imagery. Other web sites vary in how they are presented on such a small screen however, the K800i has a zoom function which allows you to squeeze a bit more of a page on to the screen if you need to. Overall it's pretty good for a quick check of the news, weather, sport etc while on the way home. However, save serious browsing for when you get home.
The K800i also allows you to download email from a variety of sources inc POP3 accounts which again is pretty useful. The text input system is pretty good too as it uses an in-built dictionary (that you can add words to) to speed up the data entry process. This is great for a 'texting duffer' like me!
Not really looking to use it as an MP3 player as I'm planning to get a NANO however, with the addition of a 1Gb memory card (not included) you can store around 240 MP3 tracks. I have had a quick listen to the in-built radio which seemed to be okay however, the supplied headphones are poor. If I was to think about using the K800i for listening to music/radio then I would buy a better quality pair.
All in all I'm very pleased with the K800i so far and would recommend it. When I've had a look at the camera/video functionality I'll add a few more comments however, from my research prior to getting this phone the reviews on the camera were all pretty good.
