My sister's BF has just bought the following:

Q6600
Toughpower 1KW
Asus P5N-T
Another 8800GTX for SLI
Corsair 6400 2*2gb

Basically it locks in the bios, locks trying to install windows. The RAM is fine and he has tried numerous things.

We read the Asus support forums and it is full of people having issues with this board :(

There are issues with the board, but if you get a good one - they're a huge improvement on the 680 boards.
Is he trying to overclock?

He has tried everything at stock etc. Some guy has actually posted on the Asus forums saying that he could only get it to work by overclocking.

It seems as though they do not like the Q6600.

ive just installed mine today, there are issues with early bios but if you read those forums theres a fix,

ive reflashed to 0502 and you overclock the system and it will install and run fine ive had mine running all day stable since i applied the new settings from the post by the guy called joseph, before i did that i couldnt even install windows

theres also a memory fix depending on what ram your running but its all there so dont give up on the board yet its still early days for a cutting edge MB

btw im running a q6600(bought from here) and a 8800gts the two things it doesnt like the most so it will work fine.

My OcUK P35 is the last board I'll ever buy on the first day of sale. How on earth the manufacturers and retailers continually get away with getting us to pay through the nose to beta-test their new stuff is quite beyond me.

well im waiting on a new 780i as part of the upgrade program from evga, cant be to bad a780i board currently holds the world record in 3d mark 06

Same old, same old ~ always wait for the first revision!!

I had major problems with mine - lockups when rebooting, wouldn't POST etc. However, installed BIOS rev 0602 (I was using 0402) and everything now seems OK. It's only been running for a day though, so fingers crossed.....

The board its self is much improved over 680i, tbh most people that i've seen having problems are trying to running cheapo ram in it.

Asus are picky with Memory, I stick to Corsair (at times been the Asus launch partner).

The Asus 680 has issues with OCZ (thread on OCZ forums about it).

He is using Corsair 6400 ram, which is hardly cheapo.

And I'm sorry but that's a pathetic excuse if I heard one.

mmm, sounds familiar to the ds4 i used to own, I got this Asus now in my sig, degraded the DS2R into my server, not a bad board, apart from the Asus has got some issue with x-fi cards.
