I can't see them launching a card for general gaming like that.

Sounds more like a card for tesla and the gaming card will be cut down to keep the costs reasonable.

Can't see how they could launch such a card and be competitive on price. Gamers unless seriously loaded will just go 5870 or whatever is out when this sees the light of day in retail.

Trouble is, Nvidia seems to be designing a fast GPU that does a lot of other stuff. Question will be is that other stuff of interest to you or do you just want to play games at decent frame rates, if its the later you will be paying a lot for a bunch of functionality you won't use. I sometimes wonder what nvidia's agenda is, they seem to be moving away from pure gfx and trying to build a pc on a card, to er go in your er pc ?.

Nvidia wants revenues from more than just the graphics market, they saw the potential of GPUs as massively powerful number-crunchers and tried to get in early and corner the market. They've only been able to convince their fanboys that gaming consumers NEED this though.
