02 - iPhone.

Hi guys.

I've got an iPhone coming from 02 tomorrow. It's 3G but not 3Gs.

Is there anything I should know before I get it? Software updates etc?

Do you have to use iTunes with it if you wish to put music on it?

Also, what are some good apps to have for it?

software updates are automatic via itunes
you have to use itunes to load mp3's but dont have to buy them from itunes.
why not the 3gs?

The 3gs wasn't selected in the deal I wanted.

What are the cameras like on these? They're only 2MP so I assume they're pretty poor?

Camera isn't great, but it does the job in daylight conditions. You don't have to use iTunes if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, but honestly it's easier to just use it.

There's a thread for app recomendations in either the apple hardware or software subforum on this site. I forget which but it's there.

Also, it's O2 not 02

I've heard a lot of people talking about Jailbreaking the iPhone. My mate keeps going on at me about it, telling me to do mine when it arrives as it'll 'open up a whole new world' lol.

I don't think it's illegal to Jailbreak the iPhone (is it?).

What are the actual benefits of jail breaking it?

I read up about it just and apparently jail breaking isn't illegal so I don't know why talk isn't allowed about it.

Oh well.

It is a fine line between being illegal and not. IIRC it involves reversed engineered and modified software, which is in breech of EULA's and copyright etc.

Look at Apple V Psystar, that was deemed illegal in the states, and it isn't a whole lot different when jailbreaking an iPhone.

If you've got a mate who knows about it speak to him, or just google as you have been. There were better places than here to get advice on it anyhow.
