Chose the GP as it's supposed to be quieter and I don't care about performance on a storage drive (as long as it is good enough for media uses). TBH reliability wise there's not a lot of point chosing one over the other, luck of the draw! I've had more luck with WD than Samsung personally, but again, it's just a matter of luck (unless you happen to be affected by a bad batch of drives, and tbh neither of these models has a bad batch to my knowledge).
Agreed, although I went for the other one because it was cheaper for me at the time. Either is great, I use mine purely for video and it works perfectly.
I think all these 1.5tb drives will operate pretty much as equals, sure benchies may show slight point scoring here or there but in my opinion just try whatever.
I went for a WD Green only due to an earlier attempt with an F2 resulting in an RMA, but I am pretty confident it's pretty much an isolated incident, I am sure others will have had a WD problem and so forth, it does not mean one is more reliable than the other just bad luck and I don't believe that common.
yep, tbh the firmware problems did affect some people but when I looked on the Seagate forums a lot of people were blaming normal drive failures on the firmware problem. It also didn't help that Seagate then released an update which would brick the drive.
I've got around 9 or 10 500gb 7200.11. drives which are affected by the firmware but I've never bothered to update them as they've been working fine, suppose there may come a day when I regret this statement
I'm also thinking about buying another pair of the 1.5tb drives as I'm already running low on space on 1 of them.
yea ive decieded just to go for 1 f3 as i have 4 old but 100% Good 500G drives so back up all the crap on these and maybe get a 1.5/2 when something real good comes out no real hurry
