Hi all,

I got rid of my 2.0l megane coupe a while ago now as it was drinking a bit too much petrol for getting to work and back. I have since wanted another one but with just a 1.6 engine in it.

Now i'll admit it, I have a heavy foot. I enjoy driving like that. It makes driving fun. So I have been thinking will degrading myself to a 1.6 engine really make that much difference to the amount of petrol it uses?

Since i've not had a car i've had to catch the tram to work and back, which I thought i really would hate. But it ain't so bad and has saved me a lot of money per month. I am still going to be doing this when I have a new car and just using the car in evenings and weekends.

If anything you will just push the 1.6 harder to make it go quicker, probably using just as much fuel, maybe a little bit less but I doubt it'll be that much different.

I used to use about the same amount of fuel in my Saxo VTR as I do in my LCR day to day. (1.6i 8v to 1.8 Turbo 20v)

Of course the LCR uses more fuel when caning it, but I don't have to thrash it to get decent performance out of it.

Wanna cut costs..........turbo diesel?

Gonna be cutting costs by catching the tram to work every day (part from when it's thrashing it down with rain). I still want a nice looking fun coupe.
