Hello all,

First post from the 17-40L

I wanted a few more cars to be honest, I've done as much post processing as I can as I have other things to do but here you go....

I've already got a list in my mind of things I could have done to improve it but ah well.

C & C welcome as always.

Cheers!

It's good, and it's turned out well if you were just trying the whole car\long exposure thing for the first time but it doesn't really have anything unique to it. You could've maybe used a dutch angle or shot from a different view point - I don't know really.

Everyone's going to hate me here soon aren't they? :(

It isn't the first time I've shot this type of photograph, infact, the last one I did was from that very same bridge! I just wanted to try the new lens, plus I had an impaitient mate in the car so I only got to take 2 pics :(

I have to find somewhere where I can climb and sit on the side of the motorway without any street lights to make it better.

You certainly do, those sodium lights should be banned by law!

Such a shame, the skyline would otherwise have been more prominant. I really like the pylon seen in sillouhette.

I would try and find a more interesting shaped road ... I do love these long-exposure shots though, only thing is that they are all a bit samey. Lense obviously does the job though, so I would seek out something a tad more interesting. I agree with one of the other comments, I would try and find a pitch black motorway which does not have street lights. Or perhaps take some busy junction shots; roundabout?

I did some shots like this the other week but was above a dual carriageway. There were no orange lights which was great, only problem is I didn't take a torch so it was a nightmare trying to set my tripod and stuff up. I had to use the light from my phone :p

lol :p well when I was driving there my friend was using the flash on her phone to read a magazine, not distracting at all! :p

its a great shot, i cant comment with any fancy photography terms as i dont really know any about composition :p

it may be because of the compression/resizing but it looks almost a little too sharp, in particular around the road lighting and the light trails at the corner of the road.
