With Sky LLU Unlimited, router is connected to the master socket.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7008 kbps 798 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.5db 17.3db
Noise Margin 7.9db 13.6db

Sky line checker says between 10000kbps and 12000kbps

I'm sure you should be getting more from it. Give Sky a call & ask to be put through to Tier 2 support, from there ask them to test the line again to see if you can get any more speed. Sometimes DLM doesn't always get your top speed.

Mine was 9000kbps before I rang up now I get 13567kbps.

Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 13567 kbps 923 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.0 db 16.9 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 8.5 db

I needed to call them to get me off the default ADSL2+ speeds after my first 10 days so it's not unheard of. They sorted the speeds within 24 hours too, which impressed me. It was nice to get a five fold speed increase in a day.

Sky LLU doesn't have a training period, and I'd expect nearly double the speeds you have on ADSL2+ considering line attenuation.

Sky uses a Dynamic Line management system the Sky man told me. monitors the line for 7-10 days to identify the fastest stable speed the line can run at.

Hmm glad I saw this, just checked and I'm not getting a great connection it seems. I was on IDNet syncing around 12/13000kbps but now down to just 7100kbps.

Yes they do have a training period. If you are a customer of Sky broadband you should know this anyway as they send you a letter telling you to keep everything plugged in & switched on for 10days! If you are an old customer that joined before they started the training period/DLM then you may not have seen it.

If all internal wiring e.t.c is upto scratch you should be seeing around 14/15mb.

Sorry #Chri5# if my post seemed a bit nasty.

MissChief is right with that post.

VaderDSL if you are on Sky broadband LLU Unlimited give them a call & they will test the line/increase the speeds while you are on the phone. Remember to ask for Tier 2 support though.

Well from what i posted above to the following

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7615 kbps 767 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.5db 17.1db
Noise Margin 5.6db 8.6db

Though she wouldn't put me through to Teir 2, so may have to try again tomorrow night.

Dubs next time you ring, ask them to change your connection to the lowest stable max delay settings, tier 1 will have no clue what your on about, and u will get put through to tier 2 in no time.

Max delay settings are basicly gaming settings, so is a good thing anyway to get sorted. Plus tier 1 can't do it hehe. Its a trick i use a lot, to bypass tier 1

Well as someone who had worked for the company for three odd years on a part-time basis before and whilst at Uni, I can say many a Tier 1 agent has access to the tool necessary to reconfigure the profile.

Definitely looks like you could get a better rate squeezed out.

Word of warning though as someone already mentioned: Make sure you're not running it off an extension RJ-11 or a slave socket.

O and believe me, as a former "Tier 2", you're not necessarily getting through to experts. :D;)

Although, to be fair, most Tier 1's are just "bum's in seats" like most ISP support. Doesn't mean none of them knowledgeable either. :)

Hope you get sorted - shouldn't be a huge hassle.

Oh yeh thats for sure, iv spoken to some that had no clue before, and i even knew more then them lol.

But quite a few are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I remember one fella, can't remember his name for the life of me, but he spent a good 2 hours on and off trying to help me, even calling me back a lot, working with the problem through his break.

For the OP here is my stats, so you should realistically get a bit more then you currently are, think we all agree with that, oh and those below have been tweaked to high heaven by Tier 2 lol.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5023 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.5 db 26.9 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 12.6 db

I think you are still on ADSL (G.DMT) Dubs where you should really be on ADSL2+ (G.992.5), after all you are paying for it and your line should be able to support it. It's possible Sky do not have enough equipment on your exchange to switch you over to the faster connection but you really need to ask.

I doubt if you are on an Interleaved line with that attenuation so Maxdelay probably doesn't apply.

Do a ping to bbc.co.uk, if it's around 20-30ms then you are on FAST and if it's 50-60 you'll be on Interleaved as it adds 32ms to the ping time to help with error control on longer lines.
