I want to get my E6600 to 3.4ghz, my motherboard is XFX 650i Ultra, 2GB of geil black dragon and 8800GTS, is £100 a good enough budget for watercooling, i already have a 240 black ice rad installed in the roof of my case fully working but never got round to buying other bits. I'm not to bothered about gpu/chipset cooling unless it will prevent the cpu overclock. Anyone wanna spec me out!

D-Tek Fuzion or EK-Supreme - ~£35-40

Laing DDC 10W pump with an aftermarket top (the XSPC one is meant to be very good) - ~£50 with an aftermarket top.

Some 1/2" barbs with some 7/16" Masterkleer tubing.

Those and you'll be well on your way.

They don't sell the D-Tek block atm for some reason, and v2 of it is available elsewhere.

The do sell the pump, but not the aftermarket tops (and you really need an aftermarket top for it).

Tbh I would try to buy watercooling gear from a specialist. They're far more likely to be able to supply you with the latest stuff.

I'd say a swiftech apogee gtx/ek supreme or dtek fuzion 1 or 2 and the same pump but I would caution against thinking its going to send your clock into outer space.

a) the black ice rads aren't great, you'll get MUCH better results from a thermochill rad
b) watercooling is often about noise rather than the clock, you'd be suprised sometimes how little extra it will get you

and think about fans too, you need to make sure you've got plenty of air going through that rad.

hmm i like all these ideas, im thinking now wouldnt it just be easier to buy something like the swiftech 120 compact, cause its had amazing reviews and im only doing a mild overclock, also can these be mounted inside the case or is it external only? Cheers for all the advice thus far

well if you've already got a 240 rad it seems silly to ignore it and go with the swiftech compact especially seeing as the block and pump are basically the same as the swiftech apogee gtx and mcp350 pump.

Matt speaks wise words :D

I've noticed a couple of threads " now i've got watercooling , overclocking my ???? will be no problem " - Wrong.

W/Cooling at a decent level is superior to air.
W/Cooling at a budget is equal to good Air.

Neither will give you huge boosts :(

It is still hardware dependant , all Cpus/mobos/ram are different.

If you want an overclock , save your money , and push air cooling as far as it will go first.

Find what is slowiing you down , then address that part.

Theres more to hitting good clocks than just cooling , and slapping water cooling on it makes little difference.

Yes but I have the ultra rare Lian Li PC-6277B case which was made for watercooling, and it was modded by a friend to mount a dual120 rad. It would be a sin to use air cooling in such a relic!
