£1000 for photoshop

Nice spec mate, maybe change your hard drive to a seagate as I think those are faster and you won't need to buy that SATA cable as you get X4? of those with the mobo. Otherwise I think its fine, wait till tomorrow before you order though as there's weekend deals and you wouldn't want to miss out on getting a better machine now would ya?

Nope, Seagate Barracudas ( 7200.10's )

They are even faster then Raptors for sustained transfers. And they're also real cheap ( £ per GB )

Or so i've read on here.

That's ONLY the 250 GB 7200.10. For the rest of them the WD AAKS drives are faster.

A pair of them would be quite nice, doncha think?

could a RAID system fit into the budget?

im not sure how neccesary it is tbh, is it really worth an extra £90?

If gaming is not a priority, you could always drop down to a lower-spec GPU. An X1950 Pro is still quite capable with today's games. X2600s and 8600 GTs aren't all that bad either.

Your friend got to deside if he wants to play the lastest games like crysis and ut3 when they out and then look at graphic's cards, as if he doesn't then it doesn't matter to much but i would wait until monday and see what the 8800gt does anyhow.

Most heatsinks will come with some heatsink sauce, but it's handy to have a tube of AS5 around just in case you need to reseat it for any reason.

SATA cables come with the motherboard, so they're not required.

is it worth buying a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 for £17 less? he will be overclocking though

tuniq it is (LED one, as none of the normal ones) but is it worth saving £20 and getting a ABIT IP35-E?
