looking at buying a 106 gti as i like the look of them, but never test drove one, are they good on fuel/fun to drive etc?? Im coming from an mg zr 1.4 and a vx220 to one of these, just wondering if they are worth the money.

JonnyGeee said:how heavy are we talking here? My zr does around 30 MPG, the vx220 did 35-40MPG on a motorway and around 20-25 on the streets..
Why is it no good for motorways? Noise/rattles or just performance wise?
Any common problems to watch out for?
I've got a Saxo VTR which is practically identical to a 106 and they are not good motor munchers.JonnyGeee said:how heavy are we talking here? My zr does around 30 MPG, the vx220 did 35-40MPG on a motorway and around 20-25 on the streets..

Not really, its a completely different prospect IMO.digitalwolf said:Yeh, 306 GTi-6 is a better prospect.
Just 30mpg max and not as sharp handling but better performance.

Not so much a B-road funwagon™, but more of a decent handling main road car.
Plus 30MPG max, I doubt that low TBH, if I can average 40MPG from Manchester to Southampton in the LCR I'm positive you can beat 30MPG from a 306 GTI-6.

digitalwolf said:I doubt your engine is 10-15 years old either tbh.
digitalwolf said:I know......a 306 GTi will not do much more than 30mpg on a motorway journey.

Pedals are close together but thats never been a prob for me, i have the half leather/suede seats and they never hurt my back.
You dont see to many about which is nice, especially in sundance yellow![]()
