I have a top of the range DX902 TV so am guessing will have amazing processing and built in deinterlacing?

Would it be best to set all my consoles and SKY Q box to 1080i and let the TV do the deinterlacing? Or is it best to set everything at 1080p?

Set the Q box to 2160p, the scaling chip in the Q box is very good. You can have look by opening the YouTube app on the sky box and putting up the BBC HD test card then switch between 1080i and 2160p, there is very little difference between the two.

woppy which youtube test card did you use, the ones I've just looked at, under video quality setting dont have 1080i just 1080p.

Doing the YouTube trick does that then force 2160p for general sky TV watching?

Just set the Sky Q ouput to 2160 under settings/audio visual and you should notice an upscaling of normal viewing.
