Seems like i've been waiting for these since forever, finally get excited about it. Been after one as a pc screen (aswell as other things), preferably a 37" 1920x1080 (from about 4-5ft away) @ 120hz hopefully cutting out most/all motion blur.

Anyone else same as me? seems toshiba / samsung/ sony / philips / sharp all have them coming out in the following couple of months. No idea atm which i'll be getting but i suspect i'll be priced out of the philips and perhaps the sony too!

So...anyone else excited? or am I on my own? :D

i have a chicken curry for tonights dinner, am excited about that!

:p

seriously though, am made up for you, if it makes you happy

:)

All these TVs do, is generate an intermediate frame between the ones it's told to display, giving the illusion of smoother video. I seriously doubt they'll accept a 1920x1080 100Hz (or 120Hz) signal from a PC and display every frame. I agree, it will be fantastic if they do, but wouldn't we have already seen TFT PC monitors that could do that?

im in exactly the same position. Sit 4-5 feet away. Want 1080p. 37" might be a little big though, dunno.

Anyway the problem is the 37" variations always have lower contrast ratio and poorer panels. Look at the 37 compared to the 40 on the XD1E and M87 and Tosh X series for evidence of the trend.

i hope they get the next lot right.

Until then my 720p mirai 32" will do.

Never thought about it that way!!

Surely it'd work on games consoles and if it works on games consoles why wouldn't it work in the same way on computers ? Remember they're not genuine 100hz so you wouldn't be selecting 100hz in windows but the tv itself adds a frame inbetween. Anyone in the know?

Anyone got dates on any of the new ones for the UK? all seems very quiet atm!

Also...has anyone got a 1080p display like 40" or so hooked up to their pc on a pretty permanent basis atm? if so..how is it ? not too blurry depending on distance or ?

Hi, I have a PC connected to my Samsung LE40M87BDX and I can assure you it isn't blurry at the correct resolution, which in my case is 1920x1080@60mhz, however close I am...

my sony 40w2000 is pin sharp with a dvi>hdmi cable. with a 10m vga cable its still very goo d indeed, though it does loose a little detail in the picture, its not something thats instantly noticable at a normal viewing distance unless you are switching between inputs.

AFAIK, the 100hz sets are for PAL territories and 120hz sets are for NTSC territories. All they do is insert a black frame between each actual frame of video, giving the illusion of a smoother video.
Since PAL is 50hz, adding the black frames means the TV has to refresh at 100hz. NTSC is 60hz, hence the 120hz sets.
I don't think you will be able to use them at 100/120hz on your PC.

If you read this

"Here, we had the exact opposite situation. Once we tried the 100 Hz, whether with the computer or console, it is impossible to go back to the previous configuration. And once again this was unanimous. What was amusing was that some people in the office say that they weren´t affected by LCD afterglow…. until they tried the 100 Hz. "

Theres mentions of testing it on a computer etc. This was done with the samsung 32" hd ready 100hz tv that came out ages ago.
